Am pretty sure I’m not the only claret living in Buckshaw Village. Anyone else here or in the surrounding area?

Not from the area but took my 4 year to watch a local lad wrestling at the Community Centre there last week

Mother in law lives near by. She follows the Clarets to appease her grandson. She likes Roberts because he’s Welsh!

I'm the only Claret in the village. Is that question being asked in a South Wales accent, or is Buckshaw a local village for local people?

You're not the only Claret in the area, my lad lives in Buckshaw Village.

whittle le woods claret here, there are at least three others in my village!!

I think some Central Lancs Clarets live in Buckshaw Village

What is it like there? When i've been past on the train it looks a little bit soulless as a new build place often can, but as i've only seen it from a passing train, i doubt i've got a fair view.

I live relatively nearby and it’s generally the impression I get. It’s become quite a desirable place to live but it’s not for me. Excellent transport connections though - not far from motorway, direct train to Manc etc.

I used to live on Dunkirk Lane, Leyland but drove into and past Buckshaw often. I really cannot understand why it is seen as so attractive and trendy. The house I used to pick up a colleague from was very glam but behind the glitz it was very shoddily put together; it was certainly thrown up in its early stages. Though at haven’t been past for a couple of years it just looks like one big estate, of overpriced standard builds

We’ve been here happily now for 10 years. And our house hasn’t fallen down yet Elwa. Our children are settled in the village school. We’ve got everything you’d want in a little community (doctors, dentist, shops, pub & restaurants) and with a new train stop added to the Manchester/Blackpool line we’ve got transport links which go beyond the M6 & M61 motorway junctions.
I can say it doesn’t feel soulless when you live here but can understand you may get a different view when passing by car.

Altho i lived in Blackburn most of my life, as my username suggests, Hoghton now not too far away.

Currently living in Leyland.
Occasionally cycle over into Buckshaw village on its nicely laid cycle paths.

Great to see so many Clarets in what would traditionally be Rovers/PNE territory.
Google maps to find Buckshaw Village. Possibly this is why folk find it unattractive?

I’m a Higher Walton Claret, 15 minutes on horseback from Buckshaw or 7 hours 6 minutes upon a large asthmatic Elephant with an arthritic rear left leg.

Interestingly Higher Walton was the first club Liverpool ever played.

As a Preston resident, there is certainly a reluctant admiration for what we’ve done. Very much the blueprint but it does seem like they’ve missed the boat after their playoff opportunities (not least in the year we first went up). Don’t mind them tbh - they’re a proper club with a decent fanbase who are generally realistic, unlike those down the M65, so a victory over Rovers is still the pinnacle.

My sister graduated in geography early 80s. She told my mum and dad she was going to apply for a job at the ordinance factory in Chorley. When they asked why, she replied, isn’t it where they make maps? My dad said he wanted a refund from the university.

The village is c.14 years old now for the houses that were built first. The trees & greenery that has been planted in the communal spaces is maturing nicely.

100% agree. I live in Broughton on outskirts of Preston, and often wash car or mow lawn in my Burnley shirt. I’ve had bits of banter off neighbours and passers by, but on the whole the comments are full of praise and admiration for us as a club, team, and how the club was run ( obviously before the takeover ), and this season many have said that we are clearly the best team in the Championship. They are a more pragmatic bunch than Rovers fans, and most appreciate the fact that they are punching above their weight due to the fact they are the longest serving current Championship club, and never really flirted with relegation.

Had a look around there when we were considering moving 2-3 years ago, prior to lockdowns. The houses are very nice, but we both came to the same conclusion that it didn’t feel a homely place. A lovely summer’s day during the summer holidays and there was nobody about, no kids playing, no neighbours chatting or anything. Like I say though, some lovely properties.

I'm nearby(ish) in Hesketh Bank.

Benn trying to get a meet up but we may all link with Central Lancs Clarets. It would make sense for one group I guess.

I live on Buckshaw, Lostock Hall and Bamber bridge growing up.

We now have a meet up set for Tuesday 16th May at 8pm at Euxton Mills Pub (in Euxton). This meet up will also coincide with Central Lancs Clarets Committee meeting so we hope there will be plenty of clarets there to discuss the season and the future.

Great opportunity for harpers_perm (Higher Walton) to join us.
