It sounds like we do, if the likes of you still can't get the song title right.

Re: A Song
We have one..
Whenever you're sad
Whenever your blue
Whenever the clarets are playing
In league or Cup we'll fight like phook
To keep the Clarets flag flying.
The Cricket field end used to rock to that in the sixties..great tune to sing to.

Re: A Song
I suggest something to the tune of 'No Nay Never'.
I've never understood why we've never picked this up.

Re: A Song
We don’t need a song, we have football chants. I cringe whenever I hear Stoke fans singing ‘Delilah’. Same with all the singing and dancing along to the PA after a win at Brentford. Give me twenty minutes of ‘We are the Longside’ over than contrived crap any day.

Re: A Song
It's a well-known fact that it's a song by The Spinners about Liverpool!!!!!!!! It makes me cringe when our fans fans sing 'Lancashire home' - it's so obviously for the city with two cathedrals, dock workers etc. It's not about Lancashire!
[Chorus]
In my Liverpool home, in my Liverpool home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare
In my Liverpool home
[Verse]
I was born in Liverpool, down by the docks
Me religion was Catholic, occupation hard knocks
At stealing from lorries I was adept
And under an overcoat each night we slept
[Chorus]
In my Liverpool home, in my Liverpool home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare
In my Liverpool home
[Verse]
Well when I grew up, I met Bridget McGann
She says, "You're not much but I'm needin' a man"
"'Cause I want sixteen kids and a house out in Speke"
Well the spirit was willin' but the flesh it was weak
[Chorus]
In my Liverpool home, in my Liverpool home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare
In my Liverpool home
[Instrumental]
[Chorus]
In my Liverpool home, in my Liverpool home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare
In my Liverpool home
Way back in the forties, the world had went mad
Mister Hitler threw at us everything that he had
When the smoke and the dust had all cleared from the air
"Thank God", said my old man, "The pier head's still there!"
[Chorus]
In my Liverpool home, in my Liverpool home
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare
Meet under a statue exceedingly bare
And if you want a Cathedral, we've got one to spare

Re: A Song
Lancashire Home is boring as a stand alone but it seems to fit in with the other chants
Re: A Song
But the words were changed to make it about Lancashire and Burnley, which is how football chants work. Is ‘The Wild Rover’ out of bounds because it is, in fact, not about the East Lancashire derby but a drunken Irish nomad?Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 8:12 pmIt's a well-known fact that it's a song by The Spinners about Liverpool!!!!!!!! Re: A Song
Pardon me for breathing ,but watching Sky all the commentators were saying what a brilliant atmosphere coming to Brentford, all the crowd were stopping after the match ,& all the kids, mums,& Dads were singing,5 mins at the end of the game most of the Clarets fans have left, let’s not just have the Fishwick stand singing Burn -erlee ,Burn-erlee ,let’s have an Anthem for all of us,even some of us of a certain age.

The song in question refers to Turf Moor which is "Our Lancashire Home" to be pedantic

Incidentally BC, drove through your place earlier today
Round trip, home to Skipton, then through LP, hung a left to Bolton by Bowland, then on to Clitheroe. Lovely run before watching match.

Re: A Song
Almost every tune sung at football is about something else originally. A lot used to be church hymns which I doubt were about a set of fans not singing anymore, or the referee not being fit to be there (Guide me, O thou great redeemer).Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 8:12 pmIt's a well-known fact that it's a song by The Spinners about Liverpool!!!!!!!! Football fans since the beginning have nicked tunes and made them their own.
