Don't think it will. I see there was a good article on the series from yesterday's Grauniad.Stevie2112 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:26 pmLoved it when it came out,i bet it may have dated now though.

Brilliant comedy is timeless. This should open up a whole new audience to proper comedy, great acting, believable characters, small sets, and fantastic scripts.

I’ll try it again (loved it when it was first on) to see how it has aged. I think the humour will stand the test of time.
Those sort of pubs are few and far between these days - a proper local with all walks of life, some real characters (and of course the air filled with cigarette smoke).
We have some half decent locals around us but they’re nothing like the pub in Early Doors, anymore. They used to be everywhere. I think we’ve probably one pub in Bingley that’s a little like that - possibly more akin to the Jockey in Shameless to be honest
Nearest aside from that, that I can think of which are similar, would probably mean going into Leeds around the old bars.

Just watched the full series. Somehow missed this first time round.
Great series with some very good characters in.
Back when episodes were packed with content and not thinned out for extra series.

"You're alright, I'll get me own."
Wonderful characters like OFAH, and as others have mentioned, very atmospheric like old style pubs.
Such a shame they only did 2 series, superb scripts from Dave Cash and Phil Mealey.
I got the 2 DVD set a few years ago, great comedy.

There's still a few left in Colne, the odd pub and a few clubs. But I agree that they're becoming few and far between. Not enough people going out drinking these days for pubs to survive without doing food.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:50 pmI’ll try it again (loved it when it was first on) to see how it has aged. Brilliant series, better than the Royle Family in my opinion.
Saw the play at the Lowry, a few different actors but still brilliant.

When I was working in Padiham many years ago,a patient of mine was dating Gerry Harrison. The Royle Family was prime time viewing then. She said he just sat stony-faced through every episode, didn't "get" the everyday Northern humour.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 2:02 pmTimer all set - thanks for the heads up.
