Jay Rod
He's been quiet for a few games now. Not like him at all, is he carrying an injury?

Re: Jay Rod
This is why we need another striker at the club. A younger, mobile striker with pace would really complete our forward options.

Re: Jay Rod
Gyokeres playing in the Jay role - yes please!!
Jay has looked a bit off the pace recently and at times, isolated. Sure he’ll be back to himself soon enough.

Re: Jay Rod
Jay always looks better to me with Tella up front with him, rather than the two wide wingers.
Re: Jay Rod
Barnes were twice the player of Jay Rod when he came on today

Re: Jay Rod
Just off form I think, it happens with forwards sometimes, does highlight our need to recruit another striker in this window though.
Thankfully Barnes has picked up massively since the Rovers game, and other players are popping up with goals, Beyer today being a prime example.

Should have scored when 1 on 1 though. Cov fans actually don’t rate his finishing. The rest of his game is definitely worthy of the PL.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:47 pmHe looked a class above today.....very impressive!....off to the Prem i reckon.

Re: Jay Rod
he was the best player on the pitch in the first half, single handedly bullied our defence. If we had him we'd be 25+ points clear alreadyLowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:46 pmDidn’t see nothing today to make me want Gyokeres for what been banded about at £12 million.

Re: Jay Rod
I don’t think Jay was helped by Brownhill today. I still don’t think Brownhill is right for the advanced midfield position. JBG actually offered more when he was in there today.

Usually does the unnoticed, unselfish off the ball stuff...he didn't today, today he played like someone who had stomach cramps and desperately needed a sh!t but didn't want to lift his knees too high in case it upset his bowels.

Re: Jay Rod
How many shots on target did he have , against a 20 year old CB and a right back filling in at CB.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:47 pmHe looked a class above today.....very impressive!....off to the Prem i reckon.
Don’t think he would get much joy against two premier league CB’s
Just my opinion anyway.

Coventry had no shots on target.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:56 pmHow many shots on target did he have , against a 20 year old CB and a right back filling in at CB.

Re: Jay Rod
Agree completely.
Brownhill isn't composed enough for the advanced role, Cullen is better, but Cullen is even better holding.
If there was any player out there today , I would go for Palmer to replace Cork.
Re: Jay Rod
Twine is the number 10, that's what VK invisaged, how do you get him in though without being totally unfair to someone?Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 6:03 pmAgree completely.

Re: Jay Rod
Hes not many games left in a burnley shirt
Re: Jay Rod
Miles off it. Very poor again today.
Re: Jay Rod
Kompany is quite clearly wanting to ship out anybody who is bordering on being good enough and over a certain age. And he's not messing about either. I still think Barnes could be on his way if we manage to bring in a forward.
Re: Jay Rod
We were off it first half all over the pitch, but Rodriguez in particular was poor. Didn't do the basics and Barnes being on the pitch was an improvement, something I haven't said very often in the last two or so years.
Up the other end - Gyokeres was fantastic.

Re: Jay Rod
Gyokeres performance vs Jay Rod sums it up really, he's been quiet since we came back from the WC. Jay has been a wonderful servant but if we're going up, we need some fresh blood at the front.

Unfortunately he was never in the game today. He looked slow at times, hopefully he’ll get back on it.
Re: Jay Rod
In my view Gyokeres in our team would be a different player. I did see enough in the few times he was on it to see why we might be interested. Looks a tall strong lad with good feet and pace.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:46 pmDidn’t see nothing today to make me want Gyokeres for what been banded about at £12 million.

Just watched you tube where a couple of Coventry fans were watching the match. They kept going on about Gyokeres being a winger not a striker and that he missed more than he scored.

In today's market he is worth£12million, just not worth it to us.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 6:45 pmGjökeres in the correct position would be a big addition to our arsenal
Re: Jay Rod
Agree with this, should have bagged two today. However, testament to us that never even got a shot on target. As TOTW said he will be PL bound and rightly so, class player.

Re: Jay Rod
Miles off it, we might as well have had 10 on the pitch. A shame, because he has earned his coin this season, but at the moment, Ash and Tella offer a lot more up front. I think he needs a good rest, to recharge his batteries, especially while we have a squad to play with.
Gjorkeres looked quality in the air and on the deck. I was expecting him to be good, but he was even better. I can't see us getting him at Burnley, too expensive, and too many suitors, but I'd be overjoyed if we could.

Re: Jay Rod
If Gyokeres is available for £12m we should do it tomorrow. Best player on the pitch today after Beyer

I had quite the opposite opinion. I thought he looked dangerous every time he got the ball. Think he’d be perfect for us.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:46 pmDidn’t see nothing today to make me want Gyokeres for what been banded about at £12 million.
Re: Jay Rod
£12 million for Gyokeres would be a snip. Looks a Premier League player. Should've scored though.

Not sure about him carrying an injury but, at the moment we seem to be carrying Jay.....hate saying that, he needs a goal.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 5:37 pmHe's been quiet for a few games now. Not like him at all, is he carrying an injury?

So how much would you pay for Tella.
For me twice the player !
But that’s opinions.
