Thrilling opening 10 minutes, 7-3 to Ireland, and it's being played at a breakneck pace.

22-16 with that late Ireland penalty, be a brave person to call this one.

Good first half by Ireland, excellent 2nd half by Ireland. France, who are a v good team themselves, couldn't get into the game at all in that 2nd half.

Difficult to know how Scotland v Wales will go, both teams making a lot of errors compared to the earlier game. Doesn't look like there'll be more than one score in the game.

Just watched the Ireland match on catch up. Credit to two fabulous sides. The French open field running was incredible and yet Ireland kept them to one try. Then wore them out second half by kicking infield and keeping the game alive. French legs had gone by the last 15 minutes.

Comprehensive win for Scotland, 35-7, and 5 tries to 1 to secure a BP.

Finn Russell outstanding 2nd half in particular.

They probably won't be after the next posting of the world rankings as France will drop to below new Zealand as a result of that defeat.

They didn't look all that against Italy either, but hopefully we'll find out today that it was because Italy are good enough to win a few games.

England still getting a fair bit of stick in some BTL press comments but a step in the right direction this afternoon I think. Forwards were pretty decent & did a better job on Italy than France did last week.
Quite a bit of work required on defensive formations and back attacking ploys before the Wales game down in Cardiff but a fortnight now to prepare for that.

Ireland in Italy in the next round, see how well Italy manage against the favourites. Also we'll see if Scotland can put in a decent performance in Paris; for all Scotland have played well in the first two round, I think they'll struggle in that one.

Ireland looking good for the slam IMO.

After last weeks hiatus the tournament resumes in earnest this weekend.

Italy-Ireland
Wales-England

Both on Saturday. although the Wales-England game may well be in doubt due to possible strike action by the Wales players.

France-Scotland the Sunday offering.

Ireland will beat Italy, no doubt. My bookie's odds suggest by 22 points but if Ireland play their top players I think it'll be more of a gap.

I really hope Wales v England goes ahead although there's a lot of sympathy for the stance of the Welsh players both sides of the Severn I think. This match day is a huge payday for the WRU, so a lot of pressure on them to make enough progress solving the issues. Tough job for new boys Ieuan Evans and Nigel Walker but I think the game will go ahead. England to win narrowly though.

Scotland have been playing well and Finn Russel was really excellent last time out but I think France will pick themselves up after the Dublin defeat and beat Scotland by 10+

No bets for me yet, though, until teams are named Thursday/Friday.

So onto week 3
First up Italy v Ireland , hard to 2nd guess the line up but Ireland have blown away teams in the first half in the last two games so going for some of the same in this one 35 - 18 as i think Italy will score a couple of tries .
Wales v England , too much has gone on with the Welsh players and the board so got a feeling this will pour out onto the pitch with England running out 28 - 10 winners .
France v Scotland , after last week France will hurt so they will be back with a bang , i know the Scots are playing really well but in Paris it will be too much for them 22 - 16

If anybody has an interest - you can watch any of the three Under20 6 nations matches live tonight via the BBC website. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/rugby-union/62997059

England and Ireland are the only two teams with 100% record so far and both are away tonight; Eng in Wales, Ireland in Italy.
I'm going to watch Wales v England on S4C, just kicked off.

Promises to be an excellent weekend of Rugby. Will miss the Ireland v Italy game as am at the turf but I think Ireland will overpower Italy and take another step towards the Grand Slam. Although they still have Scotland to come.

Wales v England is all about passion for the Welsh and I wouldn’t be surprised if they win this one, England are the better team on paper but they do seem to lack that killer instinct. Scotland v France should be a close fought match but if the French win it means the Scots hopes of the Grand Slam are over.

A laymen's prediction for this weekend.

Ireland-Italy easy BP victory for Ireland they are simply too strong especially in Dublin.

Wales-England this could go two ways, either Wales are affected by the off field turmoil, or it makes them develop a siege mentality.

I'm not yet convinced by this England side and Cardiff is a difficult place to visit, however despite these concerns I have to go for an England win.

France-Scotland arguably the fixture of the round, Scotland eyeing up a potential slam, while France are smarting from their reverse in Dublin.

Home advantage will be vital and France by 7-10 points.

A cracking start in the Italy-Ireland match, 3 tries already and there could have been a couple more.

12-7 Ireland but Italy more than playing their part.

A win for Ireland but Italy pushed them all the way. and further evidence of how improved the Italians now are.

England edging a tight contest in Cardiff leading 8-3 nearing HT.

England finally put this game to bed after missing numerous chances.

Been a scrappy affair for the most part and both these sides look like they are in a transition phase.

Crazy opening few minutes of the France-Scotland game, both sides seeing a man sent off early on, France leading 22-14 early in the 2nd half, however Scotland have just scored a try to keep them in touch.

France win 32-21 and thanks to a late try claim the BP as well.

Scotland can take plenty out of that match despite the defeat.

We are back again and a weeks break .
First up Italy v Wales now with what has gone on with Wales they look disjointed at best just have a very firm feeling it will be Italy's day 28 - 15 .
England v France , changes to the England side as the coach looks for ways to beat the French , not going to happen as France have too much all over the park for the English and it will be one sided 18- 34 to the French .
The game of the week for me as always is Ireland's trip to Scotland , Now the Scots have been very good took chances and it paid off , now they did come unstuck in Paris but that's no shame . The Irish know the slam is on the line and they will grind out a win after blowing the Scots away in the first half , so bonus point win 22 - 35 to the Irish .

Game of the weekend for me will be at Ramsgreave Drive where Blackburn will be taking on Wirral, attempting to reduce their points deficit on Lymm! I'll concentrate on England after that.

All to play for on the final weekend. Ireland should beat Scotland on Sunday to complete the Grand Slam, even if they lose they will almost definitely be Champions. The contest for second place is intriguing with the winner of England v France likely to claim it, unless Scotland can nick it with an unexpected victory over the Irish. You would expect both Italy and Wales to battle to avoid the ignominy of the wooden spoon, although Wales seem to have imploded this year.

Looking forward to it. But not as much as I’m looking forward to hopefully trouncing the pie-eaters.

I concur with your Italy v Wales thoughts, although perhaps a closer result ... England are rarely poor enough at Twickenham to lose by 16 points, their pack will always keep them in the match so France may edge a close game. Ireland should win in Edinburgh, by 5-10 points ....

All the above dependent on all teams keeping free of Red cards ...

I think Wales might beat Italy. Italy have played way above expectations so far and Wales been below par but I think Wales have enough good players to put a decent performance together. Wales by 6-10 points.

France had a lot of accolades before the 6N started but they only narrowly scraped past Italy and Scotland and were well beaten by Ireland. Also they have a very poor record at Twickenham. Should be close, Ill go France by 1-5 points but no surprise if England edge it.

Sunday's game is an interesting one with the slight underdogs (who have done v well so far in the campaign) being at home to the team who have been best of the 6N so far. Sexton is back at 10 for the Irish & Furlong back in the front row which makes them even stronger IMO. I fancy Ireland by 11-15 points in this one.

As per previous post though- forecasts are apt to go out the window if one team gets a red card - especially if its early in the game.

The equivalent U20 fixtures are being played tonight (all three can be viewed live via BBC website)

For what its worth
HT in the Eng v France game which atrted at 20.00, currently 0-13 I hope that wont be the half time score tomorrow
Other two games kicked off 19.45 so 60+ minutes in
Italy v Wales is 27-25, a tight one.
Sc v Ireland is 7-54 (Scotland getting well stuffed there).

Some big U20 lads out there.

Italy-Wales big day for Italy, yes they've played well especially against France, however they do need to put a win on the board, mind you so do Wales after a disappointing tournament.

I'll go for Italy to edge a tense encounter by 4-5 points, playing in Rome will be the decisive factor for me.

England-France France haven't hit the heights they did last year, however even at Twickenham I have to favour them to prevail, England still haven't shown me enough to suggest they'll be up to beating a quality French side, France by 8-12 points.

Scotland-Ireland arguably the game of the weekend, Triple Crown up for grabs for both, and Ireland still on course for a Grand Slam. It'll be a battle but Ireland will have too much strength in depth. Ireland by 10-12 points in a high-scoring thriller.

Convincing victory for Wales.

France well ahead at Twickers, although England are threatening a stunning 2nd half fightback.
