If you’d told me back in august/July that we’d still have nobody in our squad who’s netted double figures by February I’d have been very worried 😆

Blimey! Foster has played about 20 minutes at Ipswich on a poor pitch, then comes on for the last 20 or so minutes today, and somebody is already claiming he isn't up to the Championship, let's just give the lad time to settle he's only 22 and adapting to a brand new country and league.

Benson struggled in his first couple of months now he's arguably among the best wingers in the division, ideally Foster plays a part in the Ipswich game and opens his account to get him feeling part of the Burnley set up.

Lowbankclaret has always been absolutely nuts so no surprise to see him posting absolute garbage again. What a plonker.

At least he’s not making up stories about being invited to training by the manager this time though.

I find the seeming want to write a new signing off almost immediately utterly inexplicable. No doubt you ‘called’ Penny early - you probably said the same about Muric, Benson etc. throw enough ****, some sticks. Try supporting the players, especially brand new signings, rather than waiting for a **** up.

If we can say after one game Ekdal and Al-Dakhil look good then I think we can equally say that if we are being honest after a couple of cameos Foster has looked poor.

Anyone who thinks the two new defenders are definitely gonna be top players off just one game are as stupid as anyone writing off Foster after a couple of sub appearances

To be fair to Foster by time he came on the game was won and we were playing a more containing role so not the best environment for a striker to shine.

I think Burnley are so dominant its far easier for a defender to come in and look solid then it is for a striker to come in and make a difference.

I think Barnes looks a new player thaks to VK and his coaching team so I reckon come next season we'll see a different and much improved Foster.

That said if you're the kind of person who can talk up a player off one decent performance then dont object when a player gets talked down when they play poorly

My theory for a while now is that we wanted Obafemi to provide immediate support to the first team but Foster, despite his fee, is one for the future.

I think if and when Obafemi and Jay are fit we won’t be seeing much of him, and I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him loaned out for a year if we are promoted.

We’ve paid for potential with that kid imo, not because we expect him to come in and throttle in 15 goals between now and May.

Haaland doesn’t count. He isn’t a human being. Reminds me of that Russian bloke from Rocky. 😂

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but sometimes is better to wait to have something upon which to base that opinion!

You reference to Penny is laughable, he’d shipped 4 goals and didn’t look like a goalkeepers cousin that day.

Foster came into the game yesterday at the point we. Had decided to just manage the rest of the game at our pace and not going for the kill. Remember after the game against Watford Benson was getting pelters in here.

In his two cameos so far I think Foster has shown a good touch and good movement, he’s just not been given a proper opportunity in the final third to show what he’s all about.

Christ ….. it took you 60 minutes?

My mate called it when Penny didn’t save a shot in the warm up.

The two aren’t even remotely comparable.
May be so, we will see. 100% hope I am wrong about Lyle.

So , go back and screen shot where he said that on the post, it will be in the claretsmad archives. As I remember, not a single person agreed with me. But happy to be wrong . We know the date Sheff Weds away. Posted about 60 minutes in.
So you have date and time, will not be hard to find his post.

A few years ago I posted that Penny our new keeper should go back to Peru at about 60 minutes into our game at Sheff Weds.

Think he played less than 90 minutes after the post.

Not convinced about Lyle, happy to be wrong .

Time will tell but looks a little to slow and not sharp enough.

This post may not age well, but it’s an opinion.

Right …..

So your theory is this ……

A goalie makes his debut and concedes four goals in the first hour.

You post that he’s rubbish.

And you were the only one who said he was rubbish? The only one? On a football forum? A place well known for balance and not giving instant, idiotic, extreme, super fast judgments? Just you?

Sure Jan.

To be fair the sight of Diego Penny at Bradford pre season scrambling across his 6 yard line unaware of where his far post was without an opposition player within 10 yards didn't fill me with much optimism about him..

Lowbank :D

If he isn't taking coaching sessions with the 1st team he is passing on his knowledge on who is or isn't going to make it, some talent after 2 20 minute run outs for Foster.

Never fails to amaze me how he is always in the right place be it to take coaching, be approached by someone in the academy who wants out or just to offer a friendly ear to anyone with anything bad to say about something at the club.

Maybe that’s the reason we brought in Omafemi …
Foster needs time. How many South African strikers in championship and premier

After his midweek brace Tella joins Zaroury in double figures, and he's presently our leader with 11.

Good battle between 4 players, and surely Benson and Jay will also hit double figures at some stage.

I think Tella will nab this particular accolade.

I said after the Wigan game he would get 15 as a minimum, and he might even push that towards 20 in all competitions.

Zaroury, Benson and Rodriguez should all be aiming for 15 in all comps - Brownhill needs to get his shooting boots back on as he was well on course for a bumper season but hasn't scored for quite a well. He could still possibly get to double figures too.

I would say City are worse than they were for having Haaland, who I believe is a brilliant striker, but while he's scoring well I don't think they team are as good as they were.

I'll also go for Tella as coming out top scorer at the end of the season.

Lowbankclaret has always been absolutely nuts so no surprise to see him posting absolute garbage again. What a plonker.

At least he’s not making up stories about being invited to training by the manager this time though.
After his start against a league one side, he got 5’s and 4’s with a few 6’s. Just saying.

So just for your context.

I used to go watch training most days when I was on afternoons.
Steve Cotterill set up the players on Friday in the formation they would be in on a sat.

One day I was down there someone had put the team on claretsmad and he thought it was me. He had a meltdown at me but the guy who did was there and held his hand up.

I was part of the team who started the fund raising for the youth set up , you can see me in the pics with clarets till I die, CT and Vince. Steve Cotterill was there. Still have my 1 of a Hundred custard world t shirts.

I then when we had enough money raised spent time talking to pro zone about their pro zone lite system. I talked to Vince who was head of the COE and Steve about requirements and getting the best deal from Pro Zone for the youth team.

The CT led website money did buy a system off pro zone in the end, including camera, smart screen etc.

After these interactions Steve invited me into training on a Friday.

But don’t let your truth get in the way of the real world of some of us working with the club.

Not complaining, but imagine how many goals we could have scored if we didnt shut-up-shop when we went ahead... this team is brilliant and coached to win football matches. If we go ahead in a game (especially second half), odds are, we don't look for more goals, we keep ball and frustrate. Must have driven our new striker nuts last week... 3::0 up after 60 mins or so, he comes on and never gets a real chance. Like I said, I can't complain... top of the league and top goal scorers... great days to be a Claret!
