Best walk on music

Post by Guitargeorge » Mon Jan 23, 2023 6:14 pm

Remember Chris Waddle insisting on “Jump”? A bit wish-washy. I quite liked O Fortuna to build atmosphere, but I would love the bells to ring out loud and menacingly from Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” that would put the fear of God up the opposition.

I’d never heard of For Whom the Bell Tolls - I wouldn’t have, not being into Metal (or whatever genre it’s classed as).

I had a listen and it’s a no from me. I’d have to arrive at my seat after the players had come out if that was played before each game, truly awful :D

Beautiful version, its my favourite Roses tune but I just love the 7" version and even more so the live wah wah version from Hacienda '89 gig. For moving versions of Roses tunes check out this guys piano covers if you've not heard them before with Where Angels Play one being something else

How very dare you, where's the foe button?!

I'd quite like some nice and steady 4/4 time industrial metal, like Rammstein - Engel, with a bloke dressed like this reading the teams out, but it's very German and not very Northern English so I'll not be holding my breath!

"For those about to Rock" AC/DC

https://youtu.be/qsaTFcXVCNU

Oh yeah, yeah
Whoa, oh oh
We roll tonight
To the guitar bite
Yeah yeah ... Oh

Stand up and be counted
For what you are about to receive
We are the dealers
We'll give you everything you need

Hail, hail to the good times
'Cause rock has got the right of way
We ain't no legend, ain't no cause
We're just livin' for today

For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you

We rock at dawn on the front line
Like a bolt right out of the blue
The sky's alight with a guitar bite
Heads will roll and rock tonight

For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you
For those about to rock, we salute you, yes we do
For those about to rock, we salute you

:D Apologies DD

A couple of my mates have always been into metal - just something that’s never done it for me at all. The big guitar noises grate on me something chronic.

If there’s two tracks that I have to turn off or leave the room when they’re on its Living on a Prayer or Sweet Child of Mine. Perhaps more rock than metal, I dunno, they all sound the same to me.

Probably your exact thoughts on the progressive house that I’d love to listen to.

It’s amazing how the same record can have such polar opposite views.

They only introduced the siren about four years ago but they’ve been coming out to Z Cars for about sixty years.

I thought you meant the band Woo. I'd not have thought that their stuff was at all conducive to walk-on music.

I agree with dcwat re sweet child of mine. Hand straight on the remote/ turn over button for that and meatloaf.

It was to do with the Tony Bellew fight at Goodison wasn't it?

If you're ever in a pub full of Evertonians every single one will have that as the ringtone.
Goes off every 20 secs.

I don’t know about the Bellow fight but the first time they used the siren at a match was for the derby.

I don't care too much what we walk out to as long as it sounds either uplifting or intimidating...I quite liked Wake Up by Arcade Fire ...but we should definitely play the Warner Brothers/Bugs Bunny cartoon theme music when the opposition come out

I think the song is called Going Home but it was part of the soundtrack for the film Local Hero.

Great piece of music anyway and the film is good, too.

Best house party game. You turn all the lights out, have someoe go outside the front door in a dressing gown (or back door if your neighbours are humourless).

One of you has a good torch on the person as spotlight, and they play their walk in tune like their a boxer.

Can be bloody hilarious

I used to like Wolves Ska tune
Watford - a former Everton player suggested it ..

The Ska tune is the liquidator - it has been banned more than once due to the lyrics sung by Wolves and Albion fans 😉

I was just going to post this then saw your earlier comment.

I've seen Ennio Morricine live a few times and whilst I think that the original version is better overall, the Metallica version is perfect for a football game
