Darvel 1 Aberdeen 0

Post by Cubanforever » Mon Jan 23, 2023 9:55 pm

Aberdeen will need a new manager tomorrow and I wish Sean Dyche would travel north to put some pride back in the Granite City. Darvel are in the 6th tier of Scotish football.....its like Clitheroe beating Aston Villa

Yep that's a pretty fair comparison, mind you Villa did crash out to Stevenage recently.

Aberdeen are similar to say Forest or Villa in England, got a lot of history but have achieved little of note for decades now, certainly in terms of winning major honours.

Looked that way mate, absolutely awful. Didn't help they had a goal disallowed when the fella was 3 yards onside. They probably go on and win it if this isn't disallowed.

Lived up there for a bit in the 90s and have family up there, passionate football city that deserves better than they've had the last 30 years

They were unfortunate with the disallowed goal, however it's clutching at straws a bit to use that as an excuse for their defeat they simply never looked up for it for minute 1 and got what they deserved on the night.

As poor as they were, I'd have fancied them to win it if that isn't wrongly called offside. Not an excuse for how poor they were mind

Unlike Clitheroe Darvel Juniors are top of their league having won 29 matches and amassed 90 points. In contrast Aberdeen have taken just 4 points from their last 8 away fixtures. A great result for Darvel, no doubt, but Aberdeen aren’t any great shakes and a team lacking any real form or confidence.

As above re the quality of the pitch, for a team playing in the Lowland Junior League. They've already beaten Montrose, Brechin and Stranraer and play Falkirk at home next. Also watching the game was former Preston and Scotland manager Craig Brown.

Well done Darvel, that's nearly the equivalent of Nelson beating Real Madrid away.

Hibs 6 Aberdeen 0

If Goodwin wasn't getting fired before he certainly is now.

Listened to the match on the radio and it could easily have more than 6.

Aberdeen players should feel ashamed to draw their wages after that shambolic display.

Easy to scapegoat the manager but their problems run much deeper than simply their gaffer.

Always the manager who pays the price though after a bad run.
