You gotta wish him well if he gets it . Talk about a Herculean task though . I’d imagine ( if he signs) will be after the Arsenal game to at least give him a “ can’t get any worse “ basis . Thought he was brilliant for us and an absolutely top bloke.

Strange feeling playing against a Dyche team next season, that is of course if we draw them in the cup.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
He was in my view a legend for Burnley and you only have to look at the enormous changes to Gawthorpe to see that.
I was gutted when he left but the transformation that VK has made means we have showed we can and have move on from what Sean did for us so I wish him all the best.

Dyche will always a legend in my eyes and I think he will be a fantastic fit for Everton. Can see him moving for Charlie Taylor once he gets the job. He broke the Rovers hoodoo, gave us 7 out of 8 years in the Prem and left the infrastructure of the club in such a fine state that we could persuade VK to join us Without him we would be a Rotherham or Barnsley. Don’t forget to achieve their usual mid table mediocrity PNE and Rovers are subsidised by 15-20m a year by their owners. Where was the sugar daddy to do even that?

I can’t stand Everton after their fans’ antics these past couple of seasons, but I sincerely hope Sean Dyche is a success there.
Just not against us, of course.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
SD did a fantastic job building for Burnley’s future, gave us times I’ll never forget and made the club be taken seriously again. For that I will always have a soft spot for Sean. Is t enough to hope he keeps Everton up for me?
No. He’s finally off our wage bill, and hopefully will be taking his ‘staff’ off with him. Everton should have gone in our place last season, and I love SD to be a heroic failure after giving them hope. Everton’s entitled fans (neither of my Toffee supporting fan friends are) make me want to see them bounce, hopeful and then shattered at the end of the season, and taught a lesson for a few seasons.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
Good news for us as we won't be paying him and his team anymore.
Good news for Dyche as he got the prem gig he was after.
We've moved on, he's moved on. I'll still look out for their results, much like I do for Barnsley with Duffo in charge or Bristol Rovers with Joey. It did go a little stale at the end there, but he worked miracles here with the resources he had. All being well we'll be pitting ourselves against his Everton team next season!

Sean did more for Burnley than any other manager , we’ve massively moved on now though and you can’t compare the two systems .
Will be interesting when he comes to Turf Moor next year with the fantastic reception he’ll get .
He’ll keep them up .

I think when's he appointed it will bring some sense of closure with some people because in some ways with still paying him he hadn't properly left & he himself hadn't moved on.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
Let's put this in perspective, the last former Burnley manager to take on a premier league club has taken them from bottom three to top three and he didn't even get us into the playoffs! Good luck to him, like Pope and Trips I hope shows the world what he's capable of (whatever that might be!)

Possibly could be the best manager we will have in our lifetime unless you seen the 60s I didn’t.Kompany as been marvellous but he’s a long way to go to achieve what Sean did let’s not live in the past though just hope he does well.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
I can't fathom any burnley supporter not wishing Dyche all the best - at least to the extent he's not in direct competition with Burnley. He did a stupendous job at Burnley, at least until the last 9 months or so, and deserves another chance in the Premier League with an established side. There's no way we'd be in the position we are in now - let alone enjoyed the years of success, Europe etc. under his tenure - without him.
Of course, he'll have to learn lessons from what ultimately went awry at Burnley - largely I think that was a product of the fact that after nearly a decade, he'd become jaded and increasingly bunkered, but there's no question that there were other contributing factors e.g. the appointment of Steve Stone to replace Tony Loughran - and no doubt he'll have to evolve his way of playing to get the best out of the squad he inherits. He strikes me as a bloke honest and intelligent enough to do so both those things. It will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Exactly what Everton need in a relegation fight. A structured system with discipline and organisation. It may have gone sour for us but it's the temporary boost they may need.
We never really saw Sean with some good backing in the prem so I'm sure he'll do a lot better without having to deal with 2 or 3 years of no investment in the team.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
Can't see why Tarks would have an issue tbh.
He's now got a manager who's got a clue about setting up a team etc.
Tarks got rave reviews, admirers and his free move to Everton precisely because of Dyche.
McNeil - still can't find any form, so maybe Dyche wasn't the issue, just a thought.
However McNeil has been hung out to dry on that flank when played, because Lampard didn't have a clue
His best season was under Dyche and now Dyche has better players to use, he may be able to help McNeil to rediscover that early form he showed when with us.

Some of the anti Dyche stuff posted on this forum is ridiculous. Granted, it's only a handful of very persistent posters, though nevertheless, I feel they are a disgrace.
Best manager in my lifetime, and yes it did turn sour in the end, though through lack of investment catching up with us rather than anything else.
All the best to Dyche, apart from when he plays us, of course. Onwards and upwards with VK!

It's been reported that Dyche has concerns the fans won't take to him. Looking at the Everton message board I think he might be right. Many stating underwhelming, depressing appointment.

Everton are lucky to have him
Problem is Everton are not the force they were when the Moores could buy anyone they fancied
Now they are up against serious Arab money and survival or a top ten place is the best they will get

First two fixtures are Arsenal.and Liverpool, I believe. It's okay talking about a 'new manager bounce' but if a decent percentage of supporters are immediately not behind him and a further percentage are at best passive and waiting to be convinced then the job becomes that much harder from day one. If it's luck he's after then he's going to need it in bucketfuls.

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
I find it strange today hearing the news. I went from being a huge fan of SD for the first eight and a half years, but disillusioned in the last 12 or so months of his tenure with us. Particularly when I see what has been both possible and achieved under VK. However today I am genuinely pleased he is back in football, and in the PL, and want him to do really well. He will get them "back to basics", hard working and giving 100% effort and still has half a season to turn round their fortunes.
I hope for his sake he can find the right coaches to support him. Not convinced Woan can give him the support he is going to need against a very vocal support, and definitely not Stone. You would hope that in the past 8 or 9 months SD has given huge thought to who he could utilise as part of his backroom staff if he landed another job. Hopefully Tony Loughler and someone like Brian Reed (old buddy of SD) though he is currently at Albion Rovers

Re: Good luck Sean Dyche
It seems clear from the Grand Old Team, that SD isn't wanted, and isn't going to get any latitude from the fans. It smacks of John Bond all over again.
Without the crowds backing, I can't see how he will succeed, it would take a lot more resolve and fight from the players than they've shown to date. We didn't have the most gifted squad, but we didn't carry shrinking violets either. I want SD to do well, but I think it's doomed before he's even been appointed.

Nah. Crowd isn't an issue. It may mean he doesn't have much latitude but there's a common purpose. Dyche wasn't popular at Burnley initially and he's never been an exciting choice, anywhere.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 2:34 pmIt seems clear from the Grand Old Team, that SD isn't wanted, and isn't going to get any latitude from the fans. As for fight - that's for Dyche to instil, but there's plenty of players at Everton that I wouldn't have down as shrinking violets and there are some good players. Get them organised, give them a clear purpose and sign a striker in the 3 days available capable of going some of the physical graft as an alternative to DCL, and get some decent performances in those first two games (basically, free hits) and I think he's got more than a passing chance of being successful. Because he's a good manager and man-manager. That's the bottom line.

I want Sean to do a nearly great job at Everton this season and Everton to fail at the last hurdle by drawing when they need a win to stay up due to a Pickford 'mistake masterclass'. This season is basically a free hit for him as they are in dire straits already and Everton supporters are a deluded lot who think their history ensures they cannot be relegated.
