7 goals in 65 apps as a forward is a shocking return

Tarkowski and McNeill allegedly not too happy with the appointment of Sean
If Tarkowski was told that he wouldn't get in the England team if he played for Sean Dyche then you could understand him thinking "Well that's my international career over then." Still, you'd think he'd probably have given up on that anyway. It's been 5 years since he pulled on the shirt for the three lions.

I would always like Dyche to win, but after last seasons shenanigans I would also want Everton to lose.

Got to go with the latter after last season’s stitch up. Still amazes me how Richarlison wasn’t banned for the Mersey derby incident or the flare one.

I accept now we were better going down and having a new slate, but that doesn’t change my desire for justice.

Another one off the wage bill. Fair play to an extremely highly paid man getting a new job. No doubt this forum will now become an extension of the Grand Old Team forum.

I’m not really that interested in how SD gets on at Everton.

Is that wrong?

You’re not alone pal. Everton stayed up at our expense blatantly manipulating the rules last season and now all of a sudden everyone’s all over them.

I'd love to see the look on SD's face at the first training session when Calvert Lewin arrives in a skirt and Daley arrives in Pyjamas and a Dressing gown!!

Seriously I wish him well, what he did for us was fantastic, stayed too long perhaps but then why would he leave once the 4 year deal was offered.?

I'd still like to see Everton relegated though.

Where is Casper2? Outside of Goodison protesting? Was very vocal about how Dyche wouldn't get the job and no one wanted him due to his 2 relegations on his CV.

Think it's a good move for Everton right now, though they may be better choosing a 6 month contract. They have a team which has underperformed for a while and the right players for a Dyche system. They look to be lacking any sort of framework. If he can reproduce the atmosphere and togetherness, one heart one mind one club, fans included, he could be onto a winner. It will take a lot to turn the toxicity around but maybe Everton fans are at a stage this season where they'd be happy grinding 1-0's out to keep them up.

If Dyche kept them up this season, by whatever means, it's job done, everyone happy and he'd likely be backed in the summer window. Thats when it will be make or break for him. Avoiding relagation again is probably not what a team of Everton's size should be aiming for and i think there fans and probably owners would all agree. With the expectations higher next season and Everton probably wanting to take back a grip of being a mid table premier league club, the summer window will be massive. We'll see what the real Dyche is about and he won't be able to hide behind the chairman as much as he did at Burnley, as much as the Everton faithful hate him.

Can Dyche sign the players to improve or change the system, beyond a certain level? It's one of the only questions he's got to answer yet.

Lampard kept them up with togetherness last season. He couldn't move them on from that though.

If Everton fans don't want Dyche who do they want? They've had Benitez, Ancelotti, Silva, Allardyce, Martinez, Koeman.......

Good luck to him.

You would hope that this time out of role has had him reflecting on his time with us and developing himself further as a manager/coach etc.

What I will find particularly interesting is whether he does revert to type or whether he is able to show with different players that he is the manager that will develop a system that works for his players (as what he did for us).

I am still not sure whether this will be a big enough distraction from the board being targeted by the fans still, or whether that is going to continue and still hinder the cohesiveness that is missing between club and fan there.

Don’t think any of the squad he had are really what he wants or needs. Saying that, if I had to choose one it probably is Taylor just on the basis that we’d probably do a deal and their left back (Mykolenko) looks absolutely shite.

I think it’s a Dyche fantasy that he has Tarky and Keane available as a centre back pairing though. Interesting to see if McNeil gets in the team as he’s been poor for them and wasn’t pulling up trees for us in his last 18 months under Dyche.
I got the impression McNeill wasn't happy doing things the SD way. When Jackson came in he said more than once he'd been given free reign to play as he wanted rather than rigidly as SD insisted.

Hopefully they don’t give him a long contract that he won’t see out. Think clubs needs to look at this as a collective. Will he still be there next season ? If we come up against him I just hope he doesn’t get applauded more than our own team. It’s time he and some of our fans moved on. Having said that he gave us some great memories.
Indeed he did give us some fantastic memories and certainly deserves our full respect at the beginning of the game and at the final whistle should we play Everton next sesson. But during the game full support to our club, our manager and our players!

OK. So he's no longer manager of Burnley. But he is a hugely important - and positive - part of our history. Having watched the Clarets since 1960 and having endured years of lack of success, what he did for the club was fantastic and sarcastic put downs are really inappropriate.
All decent clarets fans should wish him the best in any new job - except when he is up against the mighty Clarets.
Too damn right.

Fed up with the rubbishing, by many of our fans, of a man who was our best manager since Harry Potts in my humble opinion.

The media rubbishing of him comparing the football we played at the end of his reign with that under VK is facile and worthless.

If we go up we'll have to be damn good at the game we're playing. Yes, it IS a joy to behold and I love watching it. But doing it in the PL on a regular basis needs serious investment, investment which Sean Dyche didn't get in his last few seasons.

I will always be in awe of the work Sean Dyche did for us here at Burnley, he is and will forever be held in the highest esteem for his time and what he achieved.

However, Everton is one club I simply cannot wish well for, incredibly toxic fanbase and massive feeling of entitlement.

The way the FA bent over backwards to help them maintain Premier League status last season has not been forgotten, albeit we deserved to go down.

Good luck Sean, just not at Everton.

He'll sort them out and turn them into a decent mid-table side.

Then the Everton fans will moan about his style of play - just like they did with Big Sam.

He should use Everton as a stepping stone to a better job and be pretty ruthless about that. Jump at the right time.

I keep hearing this he was here too long - went stale. What went stale was was rhe owner not opening his wallet.
Dyche has said the team needed an overhaul but he couldn't do that with chips.

Almost teenage crush levels of idolisation, some of the stuff on here. Dyche was great for us for many years, and wasn't for some years. He came in, did a job, made millions and millions of pounds, left the job. It'll be vaguely interesting to see how he gets on at Everton but no more really than any other manager in a new job compared to the team I support. The football at Turf Moor currently is more enjoyable than it ever was under Dyche and by Championship standards it's on course to be just as or similarly as successful. I'd rather lend the vast majority of my focus on that rather than someone who, really, has little affinity to the club compared to us, as will be the case when Kompany leaves whenever that will be. Hopefully not soon.

I for one won't be offering him my best wishes, I was glad he went.
Having said that , he will need every ounce of good luck.
Wasn't anywhere near first choice, fans outraged, scattergun management, disillusioned players, in debt to the point of near bankruptcy and the thought that he will only be there until summer.
Not that he will care to much, it's all about the money.

He hasn’t got the job yet

I keep hearing this he was here too long - went stale. What went stale was was rhe owner not opening his wallet.
Dyche has said the team needed an overhaul but he couldn't do that with chips.
Like I said...things went stale off the pitch too.

He was brilliant for us and I was gutted with the timing of his dismissal and we couldn't give him a send off he deserved from us fans.If he ever returns to the Turf with another team I will applaud him with I presume everyone else. But having said all that I want to see Everton relegated and not win another game all season even with Dyche in charge

he took 6 months to get a tune out of our lads, that's all Everton have. Granted he has much more experience now

Wasn't even his wallet, you can imagine him though checking the balance on a daily basis, desperately trying to find a buyer, greedy man.

Good luck Sean, was great for us and will always be a great part of our history. However I support Burnley not Sean Dyche and I’m more than pleased with our current manager in every way so how Sean does I don’t particularly care aslong as Burnley and VK keep doing what they’re doing.

It did go stale, but is it just a coincidence that it began when the board stopped investing in favour of financing the sale?
You know how these things work, they filter down to all levels.
Was it Dyche or the project that went stale? With everyone in the organisation suffering as a result.

What doesn't reflect well on Dyche is that it didn't seem to improve once AP took over and invested in the likes of Cornet, WW, etc. Is this because it was too late to turn it around and the organisation had been affected so much that it was beyond repair? or was it that Dyche had indeed lost the players with his methods/style/staff?

Maybe a bit of everything?

The promotion in Dyche's first full season was as unexpected as the Coyle surprise, it was fantastic. He said things we hadn't heard before and brought a professionalism that projected us as a modern up to date football club. Relentless is one that springs to mind.

With Coyle it felt like we took a chance and got lucky, an occasion to be enjoyed that doesn't come our way very often. With Dyche it was a complete change of approach, something to be instilled, the building blocks for a future.
The 'VINGS' championship season was incredible, as unexpected as the Coyle promotion, and just as great to watch. We played a mix of solidity and flair. Dare to dream, still can't believe we did it again.

Finances did us in our first Dyche Prem season, we simply didn't have the money for a back up to Marney should he get injured. Sure enough, we were holding our own until he limped off and didn't play again that year. Marney, what a player! What a shame we went back down.

Then came 23 23 undefeated! Didn't exactly start that well though did it? We were rubbish for a while, culminating in a 4-0 drubbing from Hull. It's mad how that season turned out. André Gray and Joey Barton were the cherries on the cake of a solid base.

The whole organisation from top to bottom had bought in to the Dyche way and we were on a roll. Never before in the modern game had we felt like we belong as much as we did that season. We were investing in the squad and the infrastructure.

By now we were no longer the lower league, small club mentality, accepting of low valuations for our players desperate club from a run down small mill town in the north, living in the shadow of Manchester and Liverpool, we once again became Burnley FC. Proud of who we are and the part we have played in the history of football. We once again walk among the game with our head held high. It became more noticeable that the kids around town were wearing a Burnley shirt instead of one of the top six.

If the Coyle promotion and the first under Dyche were surprises, then qualifying for Europe was beyond anyone's expectation. No one thought we'd win it, but the thoughts of what we could achieve in future seasons if we could build on this just went up another level again.

Was this the beginning of the end? It was certainly the pinnacle of the Dyche era.

Good luck SD .. He deserves a stab with a bigger team than Burnley. I don't mean he deserves it financially (he's bloody loaded) but in terms of his managerial success.

I was absolutely gutted when he left, he put Burnley in a place I could never dream of and I will forever appreciate those years and memories we have had.

Due to the nature of the changes in the summer and the huge depth that they effected across the club I am enjoying this next stage in Burnley FC.

I wish Sean Dyche every piece of success and luck that he has deserved in the rest of his career, unless of course he is leading a team out against Burnley.

Some very odd strange comments on this thread, as to be expected though.

No problem from me re Mr Dyche……..did a brilliant job for us. Yep went a bit south towards the end but to be a manager in football you do have to have a certain “strength of character”………

Everton are a fabulous club, and if he gets that gig I wish him all the best apart from when they play us,
