The interview was one long cringe, and tbh the guy looks as genuine as a nine-bob note. The alarm bells are pretty deafening too.

However.

Current management have earned the right to be trusted on this one. No question. I've a feeling VK and Bellamy will prove more than adequate in the arse-kicking department should this be required. The guy clearly has talent, so let's see what he can offer.

Every signing carries a degree of risk, this one maybe more so.
I'm happy trust Kompany's judgement in the matter.
We never really replaced Danny Ings, Andre Gray came close, but not quite.
Obafemi or Foster could be 'the fox in the box' we need.

Isn’t this ‘attitude problem’ entirely the invention of this message board?

I'm going off the Swansea managers comments. There's obviously a reason why he's hardly featured this season.

Absolute utter pish.

Over 100 comments and there's one saying he's unsure where the lad fits in, and one where a chap says he doesn't like the signing but will trust VK on it. The rest are positive..some exceedingly so.

Why do you feel a need to talk out of your rear end?

And both were true...and then he went on to say the lad obviously has talent so let's see what he can do.

A balanced post that you only chose to read half of.

Really exciting signing this for me. A good age with a lot to prove.

Welcome to the club.

My co-grandad, who is a scout coach with Southampton's academy says he could be a great player - if we can keep him focussed. Apparently he overthinks about things off the pitch and can let that intrude on his training and playing. Which is essentially what the Swansea manager was saying about him. He was distracted by our offer and wanted to come and it affected his focus for training and playing.

I can empathise with this for it is a classic ADHD trait, without focus you just can't!

Probably some truth in the attitude stories, every club and fan can't be wrong. But then that's like every decent player we sign, there's always something or they'd not be at Burnley. If Glen Little had pace, if Defour was more robust, if Cullen was 6'2".. Kompany obviously believes he can fix, or at least tolerate, the attitude so let's see.

It is, a smiley, confident personality. I think he'll do well for us.

That front four places has some real competition:-

Rodriguez
Barnes
Foster
Obafemi
Dervişoğlu
Zaroury
Brownhill
Benson
Tella
Gudmundsson
Twine
Churlinov

Absolutely frightening. :o
Compared to last season in those same 4 positions:

Rodriguez
Barnes
Cornet
Wood/Weghorst
Vydra
Brownhill
McNeil
A mostly injured JBG

An extra 4 bodies on paper, but Dervişoğlu, Twine and Churlinov have barely had a sniff for varying reasons, and Foster and Obafemi are brand new additions we'll see how they get on, but it definitely feels stronger than what we've had before.

Absolutely cannot wait to see how this squad of players do in the Prem because, to me, this feels like the best ever squad we've had in a Championship season.

My only concern is that a young, vibrant, full of goals Norwich side went up three years ago and completely imploded in the prem

Fair point Lancaster, but we had a side that couldn’t score goals last season and they were struggling a bit at the start of this season too until Tella rocked up. However VK fixed that. Next season ( if Burnley are promoted) VK will realise that we will have to do a lot more defending. Given his background I think we can rest assured he will know what’s required.

They didn’t have Vincent Kompany and recruited poorly. Big difference.

Quite seriously, I don't think VK will paint himself into any corners. IF things need changing, he will change it. Whether that's style or personnel. He's shown a little of that already with the acquisition of Foster and Obafemi, and the loaning out of CJER and McNally.

It could all come crashing down and VK gets potted before Christmas, but to be honest since the end of last season I've learned to embrace the unknown and win, lose or draw, it's brought the excitement back for me going to watch football again.

We know how hard the premier league is, they didn't

I'm just going to enjoy this season though and worry about that next year!

Looks like Obafemi has been subject to online racist abuse following his loan to us from an empty headed Swansea fan.

Let’s reserve some judgment on him, eh?

One poster already sticking the knife in was on here the other day calling others knobs for questioning Bastien’s performances. Fickle as.

Twice in a few days racism only football has once again reared its ugly head.

It’s becoming a societal problem once again and something needs to be done.

When will people realise its best to ignore this small minority . I came on to express my delight at this signing and see ‘outrage’ and ‘the end of the world’ moments.

Looks like Swansea are getting Karlan Grant on loan as Obafemi's replacement.

With all these new signings, does this mean we have to drop someone from the squad? Or I am totally deluded and there is no such thing as a registered squad?
