Are we Arsenal in disguise?
Seen quite a few comments about the Ipswich pitch and reminded what we thought of Arsenal moaning about our pitch. Fuuny how now we are the big fish in the little pond our views on things like timewasting, aggressive play and now the pitch seem to be the very views we ridiculed when we were the plucky underdogs
Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
Difference between moaning about the grass being a bit long and Ipswich’s cabbage patch with the ball bobbling all over the place (their fans also agree and have said it’s being upgraded in the summer)
Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
We cudnt play our game on it
Take them back to turf and we murder em

Ings Lane, home of the mighty Sklipton Bulldogs, had a better surface.

Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
Just find it funny that this season our fans moan about things like timewasting and teams roughing us up and now the pitch when over the last 5 years we laughed when opposition fans and managers complained about us and those things.
The pitch was sh*t yesterday and we probably did deliberately let the grass grow to stop Arsenal being able to play their normal game. Thats football and neither bother me but as said the way some of our fans have become the type of fan they previously laughed at does amuse me

Its just a lob-sided, partisan veiw of the team you support. Natural like.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 3:36 pmJust find it funny that this season our fans moan about things like timewasting and teams roughing us up and now the pitch when over the last 5 years we laughed when opposition fans and managers complained about us and those things.

Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
Other clubs are only doing what Burnley have practiced for donkey’s years. I have been sat having a brew with Roy Oldfield when the pitch ‘instructions’ came from upstairs (the manager). Narrow the wings, leave the middle boggy etc.
It very much part of the game. Making observations about the ‘tactic’ should be different than complaining about it.

Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
The pitch v Arsenal was within the 6mm tolerance allowed by the Premier league. It may have been at the top of the tolerance limits but it was compliant.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 3:36 pmThe pitch was sh*t yesterday and we probably did deliberately let the grass grow to stop Arsenal being able to play their normal game. Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
I didn't hear any complaints about the pitch from our fans at the game/on the coach etc..
Did it look really bad on the t.v?

Re: Are we Arsenal in disguise?
My main observation was Burnley players slipping, but Ipswich players nowhere near as much. Surely that just needed a stud/boot change, but it didn't seem to improve much in the second half. I was concerned about injuries.
