Fair play to him for getting a premier league job. I’ll be amazed if he’s still there at the start of next season though.

True! in fairness though that would probably be the case whoever Everton appointed.

Up to Sean Dyche to prove what he's capable of on the bigger stage.

Interesting to listen to SD in a recent interview for the High Performance Podcast - released this morning - also very interesting to listen to the hosts and their take at the end particularly about the situation after the takeover and it is not a dig at Pace and co the had every right to try what they wanted as owners (as I have said before)

https://www.thehighperformancepodcast.c ... /seandyche

Personally - I am very surprised that he has taken Steve Stone with him to Everton - he needs to find someone else with a much more upbeat personality and a depth of coaching experience a-la Loughlan

Who knows at that basket case, it will depend on what league they’re in next season I suppose. Their fans will no doubt want the latest “big name” that’s been sacked from somewhere else.

Good luck to Sean. I hope his first major success at Everton is promotion back to the PL.

He was always going to take them with him wherever he went.
He clearly sees something in them that very few fans or players do.
He may well still have been at Turf Moor if he had been prepared to let one or both go.

Agree on the Steve Stone point....
....maybe it just shows his stubbornness or blind loyalty... Or maybe he's just a thug ... ..or likes to project that he is? Time will tell.
I was a fan up until half way through our relegation season....not playing Cork was just plain stupid.
Everyone could see that.
Appearing in shirt & tie in the snow (Tottenham)......showed he believed his own press. Daft....put the Tin Hat on it for me.

So glad to have that off my chest....UTC....... What we have now is better!

Best manager we’ve had in my 48 years going on the Turf. Given the rather lean years in the first 30 years or so of my time as a claret he brought a level of success I never thought I’d see. Those who ‘want to take the emotion out of it’ or trot out the ‘he was good for us but now I’ve no interest now’ line really can’t have a heart, the joy he’s brought over the last decade means that personally all I can do is wish him every success and hope he has a great impact at Everton (accepting of course that doesn’t mean beating us or winning games that we need Everton to lose!)
Same here though I'm slightly under 48 years following Burnley. I never thought I would see a Premier league season, never mind 7 or 8. In the end it went stale. Wish him all the best although I only want them to go down slightly less now.

SD gave us the opportunity to watch Burnley play in Europe. Everyone should be thankful for that.

Think Sam Vokes may be misremembering us getting 65 points the season we finished 7th! 54 points was our highest Premier League total.

So would I. I expect he'd say something quite similar about what SD when he took over Burnley and he could use that at Everton.

I suspect though that you'd rather focus on SD's last season, which which is incredibly blinkered.

Surely views on how he changed the club and the tactics when he arrived are more relevant to the current conversation than what he did after eight years?

I’d expect he’d say “thanks Sean….thanks for making me a very rich young man and developing me into a premier league player and giving me a career beyond my wildest dreams after I was struggling as a left back in a team going nowhere quickly in the championship”

And if you had any sense whatsoever as a burnley fan you would be saying something similar and appreciate the most successful manager in 50 years instead of talking utter shite.

I've seen it mentioned that he is now off our wage bill. Anyone care to have an informed guess/estimate as to how much we are saving each month on this news?
Good luck Sean BTW. You might need it with the Gwladys St after a few matches.

“Wind yer neck in lad” ??

Coming from a pr-ick like you with the utter negative shite you post on this board that really is rich.

I get that everyone is entitled to views but that does not mean you can’t be called out for posting stuff that is not backed up by any thing factual.

Feel free to point out which manager in the last 50 years has achieved more for Burnley on and off the pitch than Dyche (and we can exclude VK from that given he’s been here for less than 6 months)

His deal was £3.5m a year.
That does not necessarily mean we are now saving exactly that amount off the wage bill as we do not know the terms of his termination / settlement agreement. Might take us a year or 2 to find out in the accounts and even then we may never find out if it’s not annotated as a specific note on the accounts.

My point exactly.

Doesn’t matter what someone has or hasn’t done. The manner in which you reply and attack suggests your low EQ.

What’s actually hilarious though is anything other that knob polishing praise for a certain person is jumped on by the unsavoury characters like yourself in this board.

Go and think about what you’ve done and learn to accept alternative views

I might have missed it but is there a reason why Woan and Stone (Woan in particular given he was at Burnley throughout Dyche's whole time) seem to be not particularly rated by a fair few people?

Have I hurt your feelings ?

If you actually put forward any credible view as why you do not believe Dyche was the most successful manager in the last 50 years you might get a bit more respect. But we all know that’s highly unlikely…..so wind yer neck in lad and jog on eh.

Dyche points to an 8 game run at the end of the season as the key period of games where he feels confident he would have kept us up. Didn't this in reality include 9 including the prior Norwich game where we were simply awful against a team of Prem no hopers effectively already down? He doesn't mention this, but it ultimately cost him his job because there was no evidence in that game that he was for turning it around.

Tools for the job. The others probably lacked what is needed at the bottom. Sean D has it in abundance.

Then...how can he expand it, is the key to his future.

Their 3 main transfer targets have turned them down today. Suleman, Onuachu and Gyokeres. Not looking good for them at all (bar the appointment of a fantastic manager).

Toffees have been linked with Andre Ayew which has gone down about as well as you'd expect.

I might have missed it but is there a reason why Woan and Stone (Woan in particular given he was at Burnley throughout Dyche's whole time) seem to be not particularly rated by a fair few people?
for me the issue is one of personality balance - I have no knowledge of the relative coaching merits (they both have the top badges so there is a level of competence) but I see problems when coaches are dour (Woan) and angry (Stone) and nothing to counterbalance that - the latter based on his track record including at our club and compare with all the reports of Loughlan's cheerful positive personality

I then look at what Dyche said about Loughlan and his log of every training session he has ever done, so when Dyche did his annual (in the last few years) - 'What would a new manager do analysis' Loughlan would have a set of sessions ready to go for whatever outcome of that analysis. His personality and fresh sessions then being a natural lift to the players as experience showed this was the way forward.

is there more than co-incidence that things soured at the club in the time Stone was employed there? or that the closer he got to the first team the more they appeared to drop off? All culminating in last season, the first without Loughlan, and the lack of new fresh ideas, an unhappy camp and no belief in the coaches as expressed by Ben Mee and Chris Wood to varying degrees.

Dyche has talked about players becoming stale a number of times, and blames Garlick for that, but the coaching side can be the same, more so with that personality mix - given the available funds a fresh face on the coaching side would have been a great option - one used by Alex Fergusson a number of times - I use Fergusson because I believed Dyche liked to model his role at our club in a similar way. The feeling for me is Dyche needed to be more ruthless on the coaching side and cut one of his long time friends.

So Sulemana off to Southampton….regarding other players linked with Everton, we are told nothing happening with Victor Gyokeres, Thorgan Hazard, Paul Onuachu, Sheraldo Becker and Andre Ayew.

Be nice if it came out that players aren't interested in going there due to the dickish element of their fanbase.

For what it is worth I think, certainly at Burnley, there's something in this. Whether it's a barrier to success at Everton with a (largely) different set of players, I'm not sure. But it's certainly the case that Stone is widely viewed as being a very different personality to Loughran.

I think this has been evident for a while, plenty of noises coming from people within the club alluding to Stone being the issue. Comments from Wood and Mee backing this up as CP says.

In the last season of Dyche/Woan and Stone there seemed to be no cohesion. SD would periodically go and talk to both during a game, Woan would nod at everything, Stone just looked up in the sky chewing gum looking bitter. Whenever a player was subbed there was never any interaction, a pat or hug, or any interraction. Compare that to now with VK and Bellamy in constant discussion during a game. VK interacting with every back room staff on the bench, congratulating each other for their efforts after a game. I remember JBG scoring that great goal at Birmingham after a lengthy injury and running over to hug VK when he scored-never saw anything like that with SD/IW or SS. That says a lot to me about harmony and respect within the squad and coaches
