Great appointment for them and a fully deserved chance for SD. I’d have liked to have seen Everton go down but now I’d love to see him prove all of the doubters (incredibly, including fans on here) wrong.

I can see him keeping them up this season. He will get them more solid. Be interesting to see how the more creative midfielders think about it though. Thing is, Everton fans have sadly become quite deluded over the last few years, I think seeing the success of their neighbours, combined with spending a load on players, bought lots of flops (£40m for Dele Ali!!!!), had lots of great managers do f**k all and s**t managers do even worse. Its a good move for him even if they do go down and bin him, he can always say he inherited the side and have no mark upon himself.

I genuinely think Dyche could get the best out of a bunch of lads sorely losing confidence and muscle out a few wins and draws, but I think the fans will hate it and call for his head if they don't get instant results. He has to get their moany, moany fans of his back. Thats gonna be the harder job.

Good Luck Sean, you're gonna need it.

I ran into Sean and Dave Brailsford in Monaco after the GP.

The latter is always looking for a non cycling challenge in sport. I wonder if there will be a link up.

True Clarets legend.
Don't wish him anything but success in the future.
(As long as it's not at our expense) ;)

Gave us tremendous times, the 2014 win at Deadwood that set up our ongoing dominance over them, wins at Chelsea, United etc as well as European football, some great times

Marvellous there's a pub in town bearing his name.

All the best Sean....and thank you.

I think he'll either be Everton's next Moyes, or he'll keep them up and push on for a bit before being hounded out by the fans like Allardyce was.

EIther way, he'll keep them up.

First signing?

The New Everton manager flies to Kabul to watch a young Afghani play football.
He is suitably impressed and arranges for the player to come over.

Two weeks later Everton are 2-0 down to Newcastle with only 20 minutes
left. Dyche gives the young Afghani striker the nod, and on he goes.

The lad is a sensation. He scores 3 goals in 20 minutes and wins the game
for Everton. The fans are delighted, the players and the coach are
delighted and the media love the new star.

When the player comes off the pitch he phones his mum to tell her about his
first day in English football.

'Hello mum, guess what?' he says 'I played for 20 minutes today, we were
2 - 0 down but I scored 3, they call it a hat-trick, and we won.

Everybody loves me, the fans, the press, they all love me.'

'Just wonderful,' says his mum, 'Let me tell you about my day …

Your father got shot in the street, your sister and I were ambushed and
assaulted, she would have been raped but for a passing police vehicle.

Your brother has joined a local gang of looters and set fire to some
buildings and all while you tell me that you were having a great time!!'

The young lad is very upset. 'What can I say mum, but I'm really sorry.'

Sorry?!!! Sorry?!!!' says his mum.

'It's your bloody fault we came to Liverpool in the first place

I assume this is a massive boast to our revenue budget. Hope we can now sign the Bosnian midfielder, whose name I will be bothered to learn if we do.

All the best from me. I never thought we'd stay so long in the EPL with our limited resources, never mind play in Europe!

Everton are an utter mess and I think it's a 'tough ask' to keep them up this season. If they do indeed go down, I hope Dyche is given the chance to get them back up. You just never know with Everton. He could be out of the door before the end of this season, that's how bonkers they are.

Delighted for the guy and personally I've loved listening to him on the various podcasts he's appeared on whilst he's been broadening his horizons. Particularly I've loved his thoughts on his principles and getting these implemented across a team.

I'm intrigued as to how this will go for him though and I can't help the feeling that this might go awfully wrong.

I don't think he'll get the time to transition the team as he did with Burnley in the initial part of his tenure with us. Some entitled Evertonians are already frothing at his appointment and I can't help but think that will get worse as he initially focuses on tightening them up at the back at the expense of attacking football. Additionally, I always felt he had a question mark over how he got along with foreign players, although I stand to be proven wrong over this. Defour was one who I felt Dyche might have fallen out with but the player finally bought in and remains the best player I've ever seen in the shirt. The opposite to this was Weghorst who's ego took over and effectively downed tools for Dyche.

He's dealing with a greater collective of ego's here and, more importantly, a larger bunch of players who wont care if Everton go down - they'll just move on to their next payday. Will Dyche be able to get the players to buy in to the passion, with his blend of dry humour? We'll see.

Best of luck to the guy though, he certainly deserves a chance at one of the perceived 'larger' teams in the footballing pyramid. I sincerely hope we can be battering Everton both home and away next season in the PL.

But I've no interest in anyone, player, manager or tea lady once they leave the club
I want Everton to be relegated, appointing Dyche doesn't change that

Congratulations, Sean Dyche. I wish you all the best in your new appointment.

Two promotions for Burnley, the first a season before the club had planned to have the finances for. Built a great team with very limited resources compared with every other Premier League team - and several Championship teams. Gave us all some memorable moments, including 6 consecutive seasons in Premier League and a, albeit short, return to Europe.

Sean Dyche's achievements are the reason the club could be sold to new investors. Alan Pace and ALK have the vision to bring in Vincent Kompany and refresh the team.

It will be very interesting to watch how Sean Dyche gets on at Everton. Again, he starts with limited resources. Thus time he also has the challenge of filling a new stadium.

Quite conflicted here, on the one hand I want Dyche to do fantastically well, but on the other hand if Everton stay up I just won't know which team to support when we face them next season. I suppose two draws would be the best result all round.

Best manager we’ve had in my 48 years going on the Turf. Given the rather lean years in the first 30 years or so of my time as a claret he brought a level of success I never thought I’d see. Those who ‘want to take the emotion out of it’ or trot out the ‘he was good for us but now I’ve no interest now’ line really can’t have a heart, the joy he’s brought over the last decade means that personally all I can do is wish him every success and hope he has a great impact at Everton (accepting of course that doesn’t mean beating us or winning games that we need Everton to lose!)

Interesting that he’s gone with Steve Stone, given the suggestions he wasn’t entirely popular behind the scenes here, and the link between our downfall and Tony Loughlan dropping out.

Wish him well. Should benefit us financially now he has a new job within the life of his old contract. Found his 10min interview funny. Lots of old bingo card entries, lots of repetition (“sweat on the shirt” etc), fairly obvious he sees them as unfit and tactically indisciplined, so it won’t be a fun watch initially. The fans could get on his back but he should keep them up. However, having Stone not Loughlan makes me doubt his long term success, just my instinct.

Nice post being a fan of a club means investing in the clubs past and its heroes.

As other have said I could never have dreamed that we would spend 7 years in the PL.

SD will always be a hero for me. Hope he does well and as CT says - he really deserves this opportunity.

I’m very surprised and I’m not. I’m disappointed that he’s taken them. It shows an inflexibility of thinking and reflection. It’s also pragmatic in the situation as they know how he works and can start Tuesday morning embedding the ethos.

Albeit I've just had a look at grand old team and some of the comments on there are not very complimentary.

As far as I can tell they are 19th in the PL. 15 points from 20 games and 1 draw in 5.

They are still having a pop at Allardyce who had them in 8th. They haven't won a trophy for years and managed 12th with one of worlds elite managers.

I mean how sh*te does a team have to get before their fans start to get a bit realistic?

it doesn't mean anything of the sort. It means supporting the club in the here and now. Us going up and Everton going down is the best thing for us. Why would you want Everton who are a big club and will keep spending, to stay up and compete with us next season?
