Isn't that sad when it reverts to that, particularly when Jay has given our club so much. I had heard that Jay and Jack Cork had a meeting with Pace about things like this that were going on. The biggest challenge at Everton will be restoring morale, trust and the mood in the dressing room

If there’s an issue between a player and a coach the manager needs to sort it out. If you have players going to the chairman rather than the manager that is a big problem.

Whatever happened it has allowed us to rebuild and generate an exciting team to watch again. Therefore, from me, whatever happened it is thanks to Sean for the progress of the club over an amazing decade with many a great memory. I hope he does well at Everton which will be much harder than the brilliant job he did here.

I had the feeling Dyche was losing interest towards the end/didn't have the same spark. I think he almost resented the fact a bigger club hadn't come in for him, and deep down he knew Pace and himself had very different ideas.

for me the issue is one of personality balance - I have no knowledge of the relative coaching merits (they both have the top badges so there is a level of competence) but I see problems when coaches are dour (Woan) and angry (Stone) and nothing to counterbalance that - the latter based on his track record including at our club and compare with all the reports of Loughlan's cheerful positive personality

I then look at what Dyche said about Loughlan and his log of every training session he has ever done, so when Dyche did his annual (in the last few years) - 'What would a new manager do analysis' Loughlan would have a set of sessions ready to go for whatever outcome of that analysis. His personality and fresh sessions then being a natural lift to the players as experience showed this was the way forward.

is there more than co-incidence that things soured at the club in the time Stone was employed there? or that the closer he got to the first team the more they appeared to drop off? All culminating in last season, the first without Loughlan, and the lack of new fresh ideas, an unhappy camp and no belief in the coaches as expressed by Ben Mee and Chris Wood to varying degrees.

Dyche has talked about players becoming stale a number of times, and blames Garlick for that, but the coaching side can be the same, more so with that personality mix - given the available funds a fresh face on the coaching side would have been a great option - one used by Alex Fergusson a number of times - I use Fergusson because I believed Dyche liked to model his role at our club in a similar way. The feeling for me is Dyche needed to be more ruthless on the coaching side and cut one of his long time friends.
Maybe so, but I think this just misses the wider picture. Sean Dyche isn't thick he knows that the Chairman isn't investing and indulging in high profile media posturing to the effect that the club cannot afford to invest in players because of Covid while seeking an LBO.

In the three years prior to the sale , 18/19. 19/20 and 20/21 we had a net spend of around £35 million mainly on Ben Gibson, Matej Vyrda, Jay Rod and Josh Brownhill. Just not enough over 3 seasons to stay in the PL. And yet a season or so later we spent over £50 million on shares.

The transfer policy was no longer really working, the investment was not enough, the club was up for sale and at the end the players knew they were going to have to leave the club or lose half their wages. The squad was no being replenished and numerous senior players are heading towards the end of their contracts with little prospect of renewal for most and the threat of relegation for others.

Yes, Steve Stone joining the club coincided with a downturn but it also coincided with Europe and the deterioration of relationships all round that occurred after that....!.

Ultimately, the leadership team wanted out and that was the prime cause of the issue. You can speculate on the nature of relationships within the club but the buck has to stop with the leadership team.

I had it on good authority that he wasn't suspended although he was very much away from the club for a while.

I have to admit that I really don't like Stone. I found his behaviour on the touchline at U23 games totally unacceptable.

As for Woan, got on with him really well, even when I dared to call him a Scouser.

Unless some kind of miracle happens in the next 5 hours they will be ending the window weaker than they started it. Some job he has on his hands, they certainly need a lot more than feel and fabric which he kept mentioning in his first club interview to get them out of this mess. Personally think it’s curtains for them.

I’d expect he’d say “thanks Sean….thanks for making me a very rich young man and developing me into a premier league player and giving me a career beyond my wildest dreams after I was struggling as a left back in a team going nowhere quickly in the championship”

And if you had any sense whatsoever as a burnley fan you would be saying something similar and appreciate the most successful manager in 50 years instead of talking utter shite.

I think it highly unlikely that Steve Stone could upset senior players and get away with it but that doesn't mean it didn't happen...

I tend to think by the end we had a very human situation where a group of people had achieved everything humanly possible and run out of steam.

The Chairman wanted out - there was little investment - a squad that had given everything was ageing, and the manager and coaching team had got stale and repetitive.

For me, it was that losing run at the end of 20/21 that rang the alarm bells.

We secured a PL place away to Fulham and then just gave up against Leeds losing 4-0, lost 3-0 to Liverpool and then lost to an already relegated pitiful Sheffield United side.

The squad had gone from a hungry outfit looking to climb the table to one that had their flip flops on 3 weeks before the end of the season and prepared to lose 4-0 at home to Leeds.

Are you seriously saying that Dyche is not responsible for the development of Ben Mee ?
And is not Dyche who was kept Burnley in the PL for longer than any other manager has with an equivalent budget which enabled the likes of Ben Mee earning several million pounds a year at his time at Burnley ?

If it’s not Dyche who is the main person responsible for all of this who do you think was ?

I just can’t fathom why some so-called Burnley fans seem to revel in deriding Sean Dyche. It’s proper sad and proper weird.

Yes, it went stale and yes the football was poor towards the end of his reign but it doesn’t change the fact that he worked wonders and put us on a pedestal above ******* Rovers. He is a bona-fide Burnley legend, one of our club’s all time greats.

Give the man the credit and respect he deserves.
