Awful! I think the key for Mr D and Everton, this season, is to ensure his defence earns a point and to get accurate service sorted for a fit Calvert-Lewin. If C-L isn't fit or doesn't get great service, they are sunk.

The last 3 words sum it up nicely.

… and yet Barnes is no longer looking for a free kick to get Burnley up the pitch, and is playing much better. Almost enough to make you think some people may have got it wrong and it was not all his game had become, but what he was being asked to do.
True. You can never tell with these things. It’s easy for us to criticise (guilty) because we never know what goes on behind the scenes. We used to joke about Dyche training the skill out of players but maybe he did, who knows. Either way the only thing we know for certain is that at the moment we are bloody brilliant and long may it continue.

Really surprised Barnes did not go out on loan. I appreciate we have lots of games and still in the Cup, but forward wise we have Jay, Barnes, Foster, Obefami, plus Tella can play there.Presume Dervisoglu has gone back but not heard anything this window. We know VK will not start with two strikers but it means at least one of these will not even make the bench. I am certain Foster and Obefami have not signed to not even be on the bench. We also know Barnes is one of the highest wage earners and unless we have injuries/suspensions, unlikely to feature

You can't just send a player on loan. You need a club to want him and agree to some sort of deal

Accepted, but I read that Swansea, Stoke, QPR all showed interest in him . He is just the type of striker a number of Championship clubs would be after

I don't understand the desire to send Barnes out on loan, since his goals against Crawley & Rovers he is playing with much more confidence, and although he hasn't bagged for a while he's playing an important role for the team and still chipping in with assists now and again.

Plus his experience could prove vital during the run-in, I'm sure he will be released at the end of the season as even his biggest fans must realise he won't be up to the Prem anymore.

But in the Championship he's worth retaining for a few months in my view.

Yes we've signed 2 new strikers, however we don't yet know how long they'll take to settle and get up to speed with our system, and Jay after a bright start to the season has gone off the boil in recent weeks.

Reading some of the Mechelen fan's comments on the Agyei deal it sounds like they were crying out for a Striker.

I guess if Barnes was a single childless bloke he might have been tempted but yeah, there is a lot more to a footballers decisions than just minutes on any pitch.
