Re: Barnes to Everton
Naughty headline there but wouldn’t shock me at all.
They need a striker and if Gyokeres doesn’t go then Barnes knows where the net is, is a ****house and a great character in the dressing room.

To be honest I expected a bid for Chris Wood.

Re: Barnes to Everton
Their fans would
It would be a massive risk for Dyche because it’d cause uproar, so I doubt he’d do it if he can bag Gyokeres or others, but he’s left it late and Everton won’t be such an attractive prospect atm given league position and general unrest - so it wouldn’t shock me if he came shopping for some “old pro’s” by the end of the day.

Re: Barnes to Everton
They need a short term striker, who knows his way around. Benitez would have paid £10m some time ago. A million from Everton and a fun 3.5 months for Ashley, would be a great Prem swansong. I would wish him well. He would bring others into play. Something they lack.

Now Foster is here and Twine needs the minutes, it wouldn't be detrimental if Barnes left a few months earlier than planned.

Sulemana has chosen Southampton over Everton according to SSN (seems strange, maybe they were never in for him).

Re: Barnes to Everton
He knows where what net is? Hair net? Fishing net? He’s scored twice this season (and just because it was Rovers I ain’t bothered). Barnes going to Everton, as desperate as they might be, is not going to happen. They want someone who can actually score goals, which is not what Barnes has done much of in about three years.

Fair enough if you're not bothered about him dismantling Blackburn but more supporters will be than won't, and he's been much better since so providing a platform for him this season.houseboy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:00 pmHe knows where what net is? I wasn’t there, but didn’t quite a lot of folk rate him as MOTM vs Bournemouth who are presently an EPL team?

On what are you basing the statement that he knows where the net is?
The fact he shoved the bastards' keeper into it?

Conceding goals for Everton isn’t really an issue since several of the clubs round about them have conceded the same and some many more (Bournemouth for example). However, scoring goals IS a major issue for Everton and they are the lowest scoring team in the PL bar Wolves. The lowest scoring teams tend to get relegated.

Re: Barnes to Everton
I just think he’s a decent finisher when presented with chances. He’s obviously not a striker that will create you a goal but I’d back him if given the service.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:36 pmOn what are you basing the statement that he knows where the net is?

Have a look at the chances he was presented with at Old Trafford this season, if you think he's a decent finisher. He really isn't.

Re: Barnes to Everton
Don’t get me wrong bud, he was excellent against Rovers, no doubt, but I’m a bit of a one swallow doesn’t make a summer man. He has played better since then but he’s done for I believe. And he certainly isn’t going to a PL club. He got himself fired up for Rovers but nothing before for ages and nothing since. It’s a shame because I think he’s got Burnley written through him like Blackpool rock. Maybe a coaching position would be a good thank you for all the great work in the past.

One assumes you didn’t watch us play the premier league Bournemouth team in the cup. He hasn’t played much since Rovers but he has been excellent in the few minutes he has had.

Re: Barnes to Everton
He’s a striker. Whats his tally this season? He may have been good in some games since Rovers but is he doing what he’s supposed to? Honestly? Loyalty is a great quality but would you still want him in the team at 40 because he’s been good in the past? Let’s face it he bought himself some time because of two goals against Rovers but that doesn’t make him great again.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:50 pmOne assumes you didn’t watch us play the premier league Bournemouth team in the cup. Put simply you said he’d done nothing since Rovers. That’s absolute bs. All your other ranting doesn’t change the only point I made.

Re: Barnes to Everton
Rovers should’ve been the crowning moment before a January thank you and goodbye. Terrific player over the years for us but another that will be a PL wage off the bill.houseboy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:48 pmHe’s a striker. Whats his tally this season? Re: Barnes to Everton
Some stats for this season
1 goal or assist per 147 minutes
1 goal or assist per 158 minutes
1 goal or assist per 163 minutes
These are 3 Burnley Strikers stats for the season.
The 3rd one is Jay
The 2nd one is Tella
The best stats belong to good old Ash who is not good enough according to some.

Ranting? How odd. So anyone who disagrees with you is talking b0ll0cks and ranting? Never mind. Could I ask when you have a discussion with someone face to face do you shout loud to win the argument? If we can’t have a discussion without you resorting to insults what’s the point.
Barnes is a marvellous player who would walk into any team in the world and do a fantastic job. There you go mate. Happy now.

The trouble with stats is they can prove anything you like. So if a player comes on 5 minutes from the end of a game and scores but has not played before and doesn’t play again does that make him statistically the best striker at a club? It does ‘statistically’ but it isn’t the reality is it?
Anyway we could go on forever. I think Barnes is finished and you think he’s still great. That’s fine bud, really.

The good thing with stats is that they show when someone says he’s done nothing they are talking bs. That is all.
Re: Barnes to Everton
Awful! I think the key for Mr D and Everton, this season, is to ensure his defence earns a point and to get accurate service sorted for a fit Calvert-Lewin. If C-L isn't fit or doesn't get great service, they are sunk.

Chill out bud. That axe has been sharpened enough. I’ve worked In places where the same set of stats have come to opposite conclusions. As they say there are lies, damn lies and statistics. If you think Barnes is good that’s okay, I don’t have a problem with that, it’s your opinion and you’re welcome to it. I however don’t and that is my opinion.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:50 pmThe good thing with stats is that they show when someone says he’s done nothing they are talking bs. That is all.

Great. Let’s leave the opinion to Vincent.
After all our wingers do more damage than our attackers in this team and pretty much every player chips in with goals.

Re: Barnes to Everton
To be fair you have a point. Or maybe even how to bounce a goalie into the back of the net. Actually I always found it a little ironic that Dyche, who was very vocal about cheating on the pitch (and rightly so), was so loyal to the non-scoring Barnes who was in fact our biggest cheat. Odd when you think about it.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:04 pmThe thought of Barnes joining our coaching staff and teaching youngsters how to fall over and try and win a free kick with a pained look on their face fills me with dread.

… and yet Barnes is no longer looking for a free kick to get Burnley up the pitch, and is playing much better. Almost enough to make you think some people may have got it wrong and it was not all his game had become, but what he was being asked to do.houseboy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:10 pmTo be fair you have a point.
