Don’t mind that. Useful squad player. Kompany likes him, that’ll do.

Brilliant news. He's been great for us so far this season. Must also mean his latest knock is only minor.

Great news if he stays fit he's a real asset.hes been through a tough time and it's plain to see vk knows this and rates him highly thus taking a bit of a risk giving him a new contract.

Glad he's sticking around. Didn't think I'd be saying that this time last year!

His best season for us since 17/18 and with a larger bench next season (yes, yes, 'if we go up' caveat applied) he will undoubtedly get opportunities still. Good for him, I thought he was absolutely done two years ago but he has really performed for us.

Is it just a coincidence that he's playing better, spends much less time out injured and is happy to extend his stay here now that we are playing a different style of football under VK?

Before his injuries I always thought he was one of the first names on our team sheet. His renaissance under VK has been great to watch, hence I am pleased to see him sign a new deal.

Sensible decision I think. This time last year I would have let him go, but he's since played a decent number of games this season and is clearly a talented and importantly experienced player.

He was happy to extend his contract last time, I suspect partly because he's been so unlucky with injuries he knew he'd struggle to get similar terms elsewhere and we've always stood by him regardless.

If he's playing better then it's probably because we're in a lower league and he's played for less than half of the available mins when he's been fit, so we're getting more out of him in smaller bursts so to speak.

JBG has totally proven me wrong this season, I honestly thought he was past his best and would struggle to recover from his numerous injuries, however I am happy he has regained his form and is now once again enjoying his football.

Makes sense to tie him down longer term, even if he might not always be 1st choice especially next season in the event of promotion, he will be a valuable squad member.

"they know I'm a bit older and they have to take care of my body..."

that suggests the coaches deliberately don't run him into the ground

More a case of a bigger squad and less robust role, offers shorter pitch time, rest and protection.

We always worked with a very thin squad.

Another assist for JBG yesterday he's racking them up, 2 goals and 5 assists while not playing every week is impressive, and he's showing his undoubted class at this level, touch wood he can remain fit and continue to play his part in our title charge.
