The ‘Super League’ court case
News today that the high court has ruled in favour of the Super League, and UEFA and FIFA are unable to interfere. I will post the link below but what does this mean? Could it rear its ugly head again in the summer?

Re: The ‘Super League’ court case
Absolutely, zero bearing on the case in the European Court, previous rounds have seen the ECJ voice their displeasure over the Madrid courts activities - this is just Florentino Perez and his ongoing media war against UEFA, and keeping Real's fans onside

Re: The ‘Super League’ court case
I should add that this Madrid case follows Decembers advisory from an adjudicator which acknowledges the right for the formation of a Super League but (and this was a surprising political twist) allowed FFIFA/UEFA and the European Leagues (that is the association of leagues including Serie A, Premier League La Liga EFL etc) to ban participants in the Super League from their own competitions - The ECJ is expected to formalise this advisory into a full judgement in the coming weeks - In the worst case scenario for Super League participants - players would have to choose playing for them only and not representing their country or staying within the greater football familyChester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:55 pmAbsolutely, zero bearing on the case in the European Court, previous rounds have seen the ECJ voice their displeasure over the Madrid courts activities - this is just Florentino Perez and his ongoing media war against UEFA, and keeping Real's fans onside

Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency....
Our *three* weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope....
Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise....
I'll come in again.

Re: The ‘Super League’ court case
I think I read at the time that a New York bank were financing the "Super League" to the tune of 3.4 billion USD. As long as that type of money is available, and it presumably still is, then there will always be someone who will be waiting for the right time to revive the idea*

If the top six bugger off to do their own thing then I reckon we'd be Champions of England before the decade was out.

Honestly, I wish the "top 6" would go and take their refs with them.

Re: The ‘Super League’ court case
Not really, CVC bought into La Liga and the Australian League, tried to buy into Serie A, the Bundesliga, The French Leagues and even the EFL along with others
Owning a share in leagues and competitions is a major area of investment growth, more upside than owning a team. It was recently rumoured that the Saudi's had a huge bid for F! turned down and look what they are doing to Golf. then consider potential sales of WWE and MMA it is rife across a wide range of sports including, Rugby, Cricket, Swimming and lacrosse.

Despite what Monty Python told us, the Spanish Inquisition were legally obliged to give 30 days notice of their intent.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:25 pmIs that where the have an inquisition…?

I would love serie a to become a force again in world football. I have some amazing memories of the channel 4 days as a kid and still fond of the iconic Fiorentina purple.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:51 pmThat was JP Morgan - who are currently trying to buy a piece of Serie A
