Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
Who are we gonna sign before the deadline?
Definitely think a striker/winger is needed to fill the void from the Anthony Gordon sale.

I think that is ‘we’ as an audience looking at the transfer deals of the two clubs. Not Everton support, as such.

He’s trolling because people are wondering who Sean Dyche will sign for the Toffees
Best to ignore (at all times)

Few situations close but looks like the numbers involved are going to get away from us.

Oh dear, hoped it wasn’t yet more childish brinksmanship. It is getting increasingly beyond boring. It’s getting like the old place and the good posters that remain are decreasingly appearing on the board because they just cannot be bothered. It is killing this board.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:53 pmHe’s trolling because people are wondering who Sean Dyche will sign for the Toffees

Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
I can see Everton going in hard on Gyokeres. He’d be great for a first Dyche signing and would match his template of buying tall, strong, powerful Championship strikers.

Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
Quite agree, though not really put any thought into Everton (just between essays, and only time for the Clarets). He’d certainly fit the bill of a hungry up and coming target man that Dyche could fancy for starters.

you mean like Andre Gray, Nakhi Wells, Jelle Vossen, Rouen Hennings, Chris Long, Marvin Sordell, Ryan Noble...... (and others - I've lost the will to continue the research)

I wouldn’t have included some of the players you mentioned under the criteria I outlined. I certainly would have included Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes, who appear to have slipped your mind….

nope, they meet your criteria.... I brought up the exceptions, which, on reflection, are the norm, and yours are the exception.... and you forgot Crouch

Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
All managers have good and bad signings.
Here's an interesting list of people who I believe Sean Dyche made serious attempts to sign but wasn't able to:
Harry Kane
Hakim Ziyech
Ivan Toney
Chez Adams
Kalvin Phillips
Rob Holding
Craig Dawson
Andy Robertson
Matty Cash
Henri Lansbury
Brennan Johnson
It's not a bad list IMO. Just imagine if all of these had happened? They were all reportedly very close.
The point is this: I think Dyche knows a good player when he sees one. Doesn't mean he won't sign a stinker every now and again. Doesn't mean every signing is going to work out (see Ben Gibson, for example) but that's another story.

If you speak French you'll understand why I've made that mistake.

Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
I know this is only a light hearted thread but even then you shouldn't mention players like Crouch alongside a legend like Jon Walters who but for his bad luck with injuries would have gone on to become Burnleys greatest ever player

I really never wanted to see Henri Lansbury mentioned on here ever again
Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
No deals for Everton then. Wonder if they’d have struggled to get them across the line if Kompany was in charge…

Re: Deadline Day Burnley/Everton
Given that Moshiri has to find £260m for the additional cost of the "fixed price" stadium some toffees think it is propping up a few months costs on that
Everton did they spending in the summer and from an FFP perspective this money will help to balance the books (Richarlison fee counted in the previous years accounts and just about squeaked them over the FFP line)
There is the another view that bringing yet more players in just contributes to the mish mash of players brought in by at least 5 of the 7 previous managers (all of very different approaches) could possibly make things worse. Better to have a full picture of understanding where you are at in the summer and try and have a clear out then - a number out of contract then too I think.
In many respects I expect Dyche to try what he did here - tighten up and grind out enough, before gelling them and (getting them properly fit over the summer)
I still think he needs someone on his coaching staff with a more positive personality and fresher ideas, unless Dyche himself is going to get more involved on coaching now he as a DoF in charge of everything else

I did have my fishing rod out but it’s like shooting fish in a barrel as soon as you critique a certain person.
With regards to your last point, I think it’s pretty obvious when Loughlan departed it was terminal decline for Dyche at Burnley.
