Tonight's footy 31/1

Post by tiger76 » Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:53 pm

We round off a busy January with cup and league action.

Toon-Saints expect Newcastle to confirm their place in the final tonight.

Brum-Rovers-Long starts, Juke on the bench.

Egan-Riley on the Hibs bench for their trip north to play Ross County.

Luton-Cardiff the sole Championship fixture, a draw or win for Luton would send them above Rovers into 5th.

Does Ally McCoist ever sleep? He seems to be commentating every match I watch regardless of channel. And then on Talk Sport early the next day.

He can be a little bit too enthusiastic about the most mundane things, but how refreshing is it to hear someone who’s enjoying doing his job rather than someone like Lee Dixon.

When ever anyone mentions Ally McCoist all I think of is the old Fenners sketch on Soccer am and the character Ally McMoist saying "its a wee stain" when someone points out the damp patch on his trousers in the crotch area 🤭

Newcastle looking like a Champions League side. People will counter that by saying it’s only Southampton but no side in the world would look forward to going to St James Park.

Still 0-0 at St Andrews in the Rovers cup replay; looks to be a low-scoring game unlike the 2-2 in the original tie at Deadwood.

Still 0-0 at Luton v Cardiff too with the home team looking to get into the play-off places and Cardiff looking to put some space between themselves and the bottom three

Why are Rovers playing their replay tonight? Seems rather odd just a few days after the initial tie and when everyone else plays next week.
I wonder how long they have had to sell tickets? I don’t imagine the attendance at st Andrews will be many.

They play on Sky next Monday against Wigan in the league so the replay couldn’t be that week

Level on points with Boro but GD two less so 4th but a game in hand on Boro.
Still in t'cup as well are the Hatters; replay away at Grimsby next week then winners away at Southampton. Another decent season having made the play-offs last year. Only 9,000 on tonight though.

It's rather brutal what she happens to that girl and what she does in response. Dreadful what she did to poor old Pat.

Edit - Just checked and it was actually Bill the Lizard who Alice kicked. Nasty piece of work, that Alice.

It's a classic, Elizabeth. Give it a go.

Trigger warning: Contains scenes of drug taking, violence, bullying, beheading and some inferred racial stereotyping. It's typical Victorian stuff for children.

Don't bother with the Disney film.

Well Eddie , how many people have you come across that made you say ‘ there goes a man/ woman with morals’?
I’ve come across very few yet on this board so many pretend they are clean living citizens with a conscience about right and wrong.
All they are , are standard bearers for bullsh*t

Does anybody ever say, "there goes a man/woman with morals"?
Not that I know of but just about everybody on this board is able to see right from wrong. It's just a case of how much people are prepared to lie to themselves and ignore or attempt to justify the evil others are capable of.
Just a few days after Holocaust Memorial Day, your attitude is an interesting one to say the least.

How times change, eh?

The Tim Burton film is enjoyable though (for me at least).
Reading the book and the Tenniel drawings are best (whether you are adult or child). I have quite a few of Tenniel's "Alice" prints on my walls, they cheer me up always.
Some great moral tales told amusingly in the books; eg the walrus and carpenter oyster-eating escapade where the walrus (whilst showing most outward contrition) cheats his pal and does more of the "misdeed".
