Emily Atack - Asking for it?
Did anyone else see this?
Firstly, the perpetrators need a good hiding and locked up for a bit.
But the thing that I don't get is, that these are private messages which you choose to read.
If Daddywantstof"ckyou sends you a message, are you really going to be surprised as to what is in that message?
Oining women in the street is a different ball game, is it not?
I don't think any woman asks for it, but opening private messages on social media is done at your own peril.

You’ve definitely got to be wired up incorrectly to do thatjohnnyjones wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 1:38 amImagine being the sort of bloke who sends a pic of his cock to some random celeb
I do love how the blame tries to be pushed on the victim though, “it’s her fault for being famous and opening the message”

So you agree she was asking for it by opening the message? You might want to re-think that.

A bloke made a female dating profile years ago just to see what it's like from the female perspective.

It's not as simple as blaming the victim. If you were to leave your house, windows open, cash lying around, in the ideal world, all would be fine, but in reality you wouldStanbill05 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:41 amSo you agree she was asking for it by opening the message? probably get burgled. Am I blaming the victim? Sadly in the real world we have a responsibility to look after ourselves. Not opening messages from obviously dodgy contacts is part of that, just like not walking the streets alone at night, not dressing in micro skirts if you don't want attention, not getting into a car with a stranger etc. It's a sad world, changing it is going to be difficult

Seriously, very sad that any woman should receive this sort of abuse. We all have mothers, sisters, daughters, wives or partners and wouldn’t like them to receive porn and unwanted messages.

I really don't feel comfortable with people telling women to stay in at night and dictating what they should wear when they are allowed out.gtclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:45 amIt's not as simple as blaming the victim. Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
There's now widely available technology that can remove unwanted blemishes and even objects out of images taken on phones.... if the right parties got together, I'm sure they could restrict or even ban certain images from being taken/sent

Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
Agreed, not sure how this is even possible with the technology available these days!
Shouldn’t be needed but equally shouldn’t be possible.

How about Men stop sending obscene messages to women they don't know in the first place?gtclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:45 amIt's not as simple as blaming the victim. How about predatory men stop hunting for women alone at night to attack?
How about men don't use the excuse of how a woman is dressed to attack her?
How about women not having to change their lives, habits and dress style just so not to be attacked and murdered by men?

Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
Mad isn't it...there's some clever people knocking about.. (sadly things like this, and edited social media posts take away all the legitimacy and enjoyment for me. I'd love to see how some would cope without social media and be forced to enjoy an organic 'real-life' experience for a week!)
Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
I agree, but it isn't going to happen, just like many nasty acts from many individuals, therefore we have to takeactions to protect ourselves. As I said, it's a sad worldbpgburn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 11:18 amHow about Men stop sending obscene messages to women they don't know in the first place?

Some men, a tiny minority of men.bpgburn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 11:18 amHow about Men stop sending obscene messages to women they don't know in the first place?

The men tag in this instance is far too broad brush.
We are too good at putting a group of people under the same umbrella, in this country. It creates division that people thrive off.
Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
There was no inference of all or a majority of men, you knew that right?
Re: Emily Atack - Asking for it?
There was no inference of a minority of men either, you know that right?
A catch all tag wouldn’t pass muster discussing other issues in society, across other groups, and it shouldn’t in this instance.
Fully agree with you though that people, whatever their walk of life, shouldn’t have to change anything about themselves to be and feel safe.
Sadly, some common sense is needed though because there are and always will be unsavoury characters across all walks of life.

Just watched this.
Just shows how creepy/disturbed some men are and why I sometimes agree with people wanting you to provide ID when registering on the bigger social media sites.
