Top team performance hence why no scores less 8. Just thought that Beyer was the stand out man, can’t remember him losing a challenge or misplacing a pass. No doubt helping Ekdal through his excellent debut game.

BPF 8 - clean sheet, good save and generally used the ball well enough, bar the odd moment
Roberts 8 - performance levels since the World Cup haven’t dropped below a 7
Ekdal 9 - extremely composed defending, good on the ball and got a goal, looks another superb signing
Beyer 9 - reads the game so well and is better on the ball at left sided centre back
Maatsen 9* - about as dynamic a performance you’ll see from a ‘full back’
JBG 7 - solid enough, glad he’s back fit
Cullen 8 - makes everything tick, his pass and move game is brilliant to watch
Brownhill 8 - I’ll use the word dynamic again here because that’s exactly what JB was in the deeper role today
Zaroury 8 - well taken goal and looked to create whenever he had the ball
Barnes 9 - might not be scoring many but he provided a real outlet with his hold up play and aggression
Tella 7 - some really poor decision making but his pressing intensity helps put us on the front foot from the start

Vitinho 8 - scored and helped defensively
Foster 6 - didn’t really get into the game

Brilliant, professional performance against a team who were favourites for the division this season and went into this on the back of scoring 8 goals in the last two.

From the TV

Started really well, and completely disrupted both the team and the Norwich atmosphere, and should really have been 2-0 up after 10 minutes

Thought Norwich grew into the game a bit, but only managed one shot on target, and we just took it away from them second half as we were totally in control

You will struggle to see a more complete away performance at this level and that is why we are going to go up

BPF 8 - passing sound, good save and looked the part
Maatsen 9 - thought he was great, and just got better as the game went on
Beyer 9 - just so good
Ekdal 9* - looks an absolute steal and a goal on his debut
Roberts 8 - very impressive again
Cullen 9 - did everything well
Brownhill 8 - just everywhere when needed
Zaroury 8 - scored the crucial first goal and a threat whenever he had it
JBG 8 - has been reborn in this team
Tella 7 - worked so hard 1st half
Barnes 9 - another one who looks reborn

Subs
Vitinhio 8 - scored with his first touch and helped see out the game
Foster 7 - the more games he gets, the better for him
Taylor 7 - solid

This is a season to remember and we should be aiming to get as many points as possible as we look perfectly capable of smashing records

Ridiculously good to be honest

I’ve given a 10 but that’s because I’ve not gone below 8 and I thought one player was worthy of scoring higher than the rest.

Peacock-Farrell 8
Roberts 8
Ekdal 9
Beyer 9
Maatsen 9
Cullen 9
Brownhill 8
Guðmundsson 8
Tella 8
Zaroury 8
Barnes 10

BPF 7 - one good save at 1-0. Decent distribution and choice of when to go longer.

Roberts 7 - has made the right back slot his own since the WC break. Looked comfortable and assured all afternoon.
Ekdal 8 - outstanding debut. Looked incredibly assured and mature.
Beyer 9 - superbly led the defence this afternoon. Carried the ball brilliantly and got some great challenges in.
Maatsen 9 - wow, what a performance! Superb in defence and great going forward. Some outrageous touches/control.

Cullen 8 - his usual outstanding self. Helping to retain possession, protecting the back line and managing the game.
Brownhill 8 - did a lot of the dirty work today but did it well. Looked comfortable a bit deeper and we look a better team when he drops deeper if one of Cullen or Cork are missing.

JBG 7 - very good performance. Seem to use the word ‘classy’ quite regularly with Johann. Looks a cut above at times.
Tella 7 - looked a bit off it today but he was always a threat and looked far more comfortable in a more central position.
Zaroury 7 - took his goal brilliantly and always a threat. Also rarely gave the ball away.
Barnes 9 - outstanding centre forward play today. Lead the line brilliantly and showed great leadership.

Vitinho 7 - great first touch 😉 Played his part in keeping on top of the opposition and added protection for Roberts.

This team is so good for this level. This looked to be tricky on paper - Norwich had a new manager bounce, momentum, belief and had been scoring goals. Sounded like we had a very disruptive week with injuries, niggles and illness. We’ve just swept them aside!

Outstanding stuff. What a team!

BPF - 7 sound but ropey kicking
Roberts - 7 solid and passed it well
Ekdal - 8 (+ 1 for goal ) sound debut but outpaced badly 1st half for their chance
Beyer - 8 very sound though not his hardest game
Maatsen 8 excellent all round
Cullen - 7 solid steady if unspectacular
Brownhill 7 as above always involved
Tella - 7 good 1st half
Zaroury - 8 well taken goal and always a threat
Barnes - 7 involved but more a cheerleader for youthful talent
JBG - 7 another who was outpaced but held up well enough

Vitinho - 7 good goal after coming on

Exceptional performance, best I’ve seen Burnley play under Kompany, got some real football minds at the club now and if we keep buying players of this quality for peanuts we’ll do well to keep whoever’s buying them at the club.

Got to make Maatsen and Beyer permanent really in the summer.

From TV

BPF 7....Not that much to do but one great save with his leg (even if he didn't know much about it) and I thought he kicked and distributed well
Roberts 7....very consistent now
Beyer 8....love it when he brings the ball out. Class act.
Ekdal 8....slotted in seamlessly and a goal too. Looks another great bargain buy.
Maatsen 9 ..brilliant. Energy to burn and a lot of skill . Vastly improved defensively of late.
JBG 8...revitalised nowadays.Good to see him back.
Brownhill 7.... as energetic as ever. Hell of a foul for his booking !
Cullen 9...brilliant as usual. metronome in midfield and wins so many second balls.
Tella 7..a threat. bad decisions sometimes which is frustrating.
Zaroury 7..started brilliantly but seemed to fade from the game second half. Probably because we were so comfortable .
Barnes 9...unbelievable rebirth since his legend-level performance in the derby. Thought he was excellent today and, when he does go, I will miss watching him wind up the opposition with a smile on his face !

Vitinho 7 ...Me "Why on earth is he taking Tella off and bringing Vitinho on ?? ...............Oh !!"
Foster 6...did nowt

BPF - 7 - That save with his foot was excellent and kept us in control.
Roberts - 8 - Very consistent throughout
Ekdal - 8 - Excellent debut.
Beyer - 8 - Pleased we have this lad and hope he signs.
Maatsen 9* - What a shift that was, my MOM.
Cullen - 8 - Like the mechanism of a clock
Brownhill 8 - Put himself about, excellent
Tella - 7 - Not his best game but still good enough.
Zaroury - 8 - Took his goal really well and set the tone.
Barnes - 9 - He's here, he's there...
JBG - 8 - He is back to his best now.

Vitinho - 8 - Mr Versatile

What a performance against a spirited Norwich side and to win in that manner has me believing this is the most exciting squad I have seen since I started watching the Clarets in the mid 60's. We have had some great players down the years but as an entity this squad is incredible.

I know it isn't at the highest level but have we ever had 20+ players that can get you out of your seat?

Not sure his performance today requires any cheerleading to get him top player ratings. I’d have opted for Maatsen but can we’ll see why other would have chosen Barnes - he put in a brilliant display.

Impressive with so many players out. Thought this would be tough and a game too far. The players that come in slot in like clockwork.

Our best performance of the season for me. Superior all over the park. Beyer makes the game look easy and his new mate alongside him looks like he plays the game the same way. Barnes was superb up top, but Maatsen was the one who tipped MOTM for me - he seemed to be everywhere

I said a couple of weeks ago that the final frontier was to go to a fancied team and win and play well. We have now reached the final frontier.

BPF - 8 - one excellent save, and his distribution was impressively composed.

Roberts - 8 - a silly booking aside, another sharp, snappy performance down the right.

Mastsen - 8 - there were a couple of misplaced passes but he's turned into a really super left back at this level.

Ekdal - 8- clearly reads the game well and has composure and a pass in him, even if he's not the quickest.

Beyer - 8 - another good afternoon's work.

Cullen - 9 - might be his most complete game for us- protected the back four and got us playing.

Brownhill - 8 - key to the first half press that overwhelmed Norwich, steadier once booked but nonetheless effective.

Gudmundsson- 9 - absolute masterclass in narrow wing play, used the ball sumptuously, worked back diligently, and two fabulous set pieces for the second half goals. Best display of the season and he's set high standards.

Zaroury- 8 - unplayable for 20 minutes, including taking his goal smartly. Thereafter a little wasteful but worked hard throughout.

Tella - 7 - pressed ferociously but his execution was a bit untidy at times - make no mistake though, we wouldn't have dominated the first half without him.

Barnes - 9 - as good a display of centre forward play without scoring as you'll ever see. Bullied two physical centre half and got it down and played, and found time to defend relentlessly too. The key to this performance.

Vitinho- 8 - cracking header for his goal and reinforced our press, whilst adding a few nice touches.

Foster - 6 - couple of neat moments and clearly the part physically, but it will take him time to adapt to the physicality of defending in the Championship.

We've probably had more complete performances this season but considering that we had several players missing, that was in many respects our finest result of a stellar season. For the first 25 minutes we absolutely steamrollered Norwich - some lovely possession football, yes, but a ferocious press simply killed every Norwich attack at source and made plenty of chances for us. Inevitably Norwich came back into the game but we then stood up pretty much immaculately to one of the more searching examinations we've had all season, from a team with several players with Premier League credentials. Two set piece goals showed another string to our bow and underscored precisely why Kompany was so keen to extend his contract.

The job is not done yet, but it doesn't need many more performances of that calibre to formalise the Premier League return.

Pretty faultless performance for the 96 minutes. BPF had 1 save to make the whole game. This team is so so exciting

Great performance - didn’t have to use Twine, Bastien or Churlinov at all which will mean they are fresh as daisies for the cup games Tuesday which I expect all 3 to start . Great days work

He was brilliant - massive performance from him
Ok Tony, I can see the passion in your post but definitely not a 10. If the performance warrants a 10 it should represent a performance of assists and goals for a striker.
Running around, battling hard and leading a good line are not a 10. In my opinion

Why not post your own ratings before criticising the ratings of others.

I explained that I gave him 10 simply to ensure he stood above the 9 ratings I gave, otherwise I’d have had to reduce all the others. I’m concerned you thought his performance was about running around and battling hard though.

I’ve never been a Barnes fan boy (if that is such a thing) but he was absolutely brilliant today without scoring. He led the line, withheld pressure, switched play, brought others into the game, defended when needed.

I’ll do my ratings tomorrow when I’ve got a moment…. But today Barnes was brilliant

Yep. Him and Cullen the beating heart of that performance.

I am sure that is right, Elizabeth, however, sometimes, you have to add in the effect on the team and others, as a result of someone's actions. Today, could well be one of those days, when such a performance ignited the team and the on ground support. That warrants that bit over and above the norm.

It's rare for me to agree with Spice however yes, Barnes and Cullen were absolute class today. Both appeared to everywhere on the pitch. Barnes looks so much fitter than he has been for a couple of years. Cullen is the Irish Kanté.

Tell me why you gave him a 10 Tony other than to make him stand out from your other markings. If you can remember how many 10s have you given this season in all our brilliant performances. Not looking for a battle , ok

Look I think Barnes has been resurrected since his awful early season performances and I'm sure match fitness is the reason . Had it been a backs against the wall performance and Barnes had been the player who got us through it I might agree with your assessment

Not my assessment. I gave a 9.
Just offering up reasons for a 10.
