I believe I read that there are no trains to Blackpool that day. Is that correct? If so, why is that - I tried the Northern Rail website but that is, er....unhelpful, if I'm being polite! Are there no trains just that day or the whole weekend?

Can you not just get the old Burnley and Pendle buses out for a short 40 minute journey?

Just for clarity. The coaches will drop off on the car park next to the ground and then people are free to wander where they want. Plenty of away pubs. See the Blackpool info thread for details.
