Time wasting

Post by Tricky Trevor » Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:38 pm

Roberts booked for passing the ball back to Krul. There were no Norwich players in his immediate vicinity. Webb, it appears, is clamping down on this.
In tonights Newcastle game Danny Ings stands in front of the ball at a FK. Schar kicks the ball into him and gets a rollocking from the ref. Both are delaying the restart so both should be bookings.

Agree. It would be so easy to oblige players to retreat 10 yards at free kicks if the rules were applied. A compulsory yellow card for standing infront of ball would soon put a stop to it.

It may have just been the case that today's ref liked handing out yellow cards. Having said that he didn't do too bad
A defender caught upfield likes to delay things so they can get back into place.

And move the ball forward 10 yards as in Rugby?

Eight yellows does seem excessive, a casual observer would think we were kicking lumps out of each other.

Don’t think any of the bookings were particularly harsh. He could easily have ignored the Roberts thing but played it by the book. But then no one else did it after that so maybe it was the right thing to do.

There was a lot of cynical fouls to be fair. I couldn’t disagree with any of the bookings.

We had that a few seasons ago. Excellent deterrent.
Should have retained it.

Didn’t they try to implement this a few years ago, but failed miserably?

I thought in Aussie rules they moved the ball to the 50 metre line, not moved it 50 metres?

The equivalent of making it a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, from anywhere on the pitch.

Hanley did it in the second half when Barnes won a free kick after being fouled by Nunez. Ref over looked it, perhaps it was because they were losing?

If the Roberts one was a booking then fine but I’ve seen much worse on many, many occasions this season go unpunished.

Not so Rammy. It is moved 50 metres towards the goal line from anywhere on the ground. If the free kick is less than 50 metres from the goal it is moved to the edge of the goal square which is 10 metres from the line.
