VK’s Mentality

Post by Claret53 » Sun Feb 05, 2023 9:43 am

All great champions have a relentless focus on constant improvement and challenge. Here’s VK after yesterday’s match and having clear water between us and the rest of the league: “We’re in a good position but we must remember that we are not top. There’s another division above us and there are teams we want to catch. The players have set the benchmark for what I want from them and we need to keep working hard in every game to get where we want to be.”
A clear vision backed up by real drive. And a view of the future which suggests that it’s not a short term project for VK.

It’s an elite mentality. Can tell why he was such a winner as a player. Remember the moment he stepped up against Leicester with the thunderbolt which sent the title City’s way.

Also after the match yesterday he got told we’d won 9 in a row, he said no we haven’t we didn’t beat Ipswich last week.

This guy continues to impress, and what I like about him is he's constantly pushing for improvements, even when we win he'll insist we can get better, and he's right we can which is frightening for the rest of the league.

That's not decent premier league thinking, it's top four, champions league level.

I like the dismissive way he looks at the interviewer each week, almost like he is sick of the banality of the question but knows it is part of his job.

Almost like he knows hardly anyone out there thinks the way he does, i.e. the elite drive for constant improvement and maximisation of potential.

There are of course a lot of former elite players managing at the top level across Europe, interesting how VK will act when he is one of several rather than the standout as he is currently.

I’m not sure how to interpret your post, No Ney Never, but I like it anyway.

It reminds me a little bit of Elizabeth I in some respects. Speaking for myself, though I have the body of weak and feeble middle-aged man, I have the heart and stomach of a professional footballer, and a Champions League one too.

Yes, the thinking is in place. So bring on the field work!

Heard one question about having 17 games to go and surely we're getting promotion, his response "We have 3 or 4 years still to go so that is many teams we still have to play".

Really liked the answer, keeping feet on the ground and speaking about the project ahead over the next few years, sounds like he is here to stick around, of course that could change depending on other job opportunities that might be presented to him.

I do think he will stick around and not be tempted by any other jobs until this ‘project ‘is finished.

All the players VK has recruited have joined to be part of his project, he is the sort of man who would not leave prematurely and let them down .

Very scary for the rest when he says we will still get better.
