Surely a full car should gain more points than driving solo?
In theory yes, in practice maybe not. I thought about this long and hard during the concept stage of my proposal, and I don't want to cause any additional administration. A couple of issues here;

How does OakworthClaret prove that he shares a car with his son?
How do BFC know that OakworthClaret picks his son up en-route to the game, rather than travelling away from Burnley and adding 13 miles onto his trip?

The club struggle to send tickets to the correct people and correct address.
There’s more chance of building a ladder to Mars than adopting a system with this level of complexity at our ticket office !!
People once said that the Romans wouldn't be able to build the pyramids.

I also pick my lad up before I go*

How many points would I get for that?

*technically, as its "from his bedroom"

And, as I'm taking my other son tonight*, but leaving behind the other one, will that effect my points?

Honestly mate, you'd be better off doing an FAQ for this

What if they swapped bedrooms without you knowing prior to a game ?

I would assume that you and your son are both starting their journey from the same place, presumably he makes his way to your driveway before embarking? This won't affect your disloyal son, he just won't receive any loyalty points for this game.

It would only be a temporary swap so would be irrelevant

I'm glad that you and I agree that he is disloyal

Honestly, its only his GCSE mocks tomorrow and nothing is more important than a 4th round replay in the FA Cup

Perhaps they could organise a national strike day with the unions prior to ticket sales. This way anybody not supporting it would miss out

I was assuming that all fans would have GPS trackers issued by the club (maybe those fetching sports bra-style ones that the players have) or else how would you prove any of this?

Have you tried to explain this to him? There is a reason why they are called 'mock' exams. It really bothers me when people don't take the cup seriously.

The points system needs to be scrapped

It doesn't really reward fan's for away game attendance does it with 10 points

Children that can't abuse the system and don't have a older relative (wrongley) to borrow their loyalty points from will never catch up to the top tier of points

Even if a child has a season ticket from 5 years old and is taken out of school to attend midweek games away and goes to all available games that go to general sale will only pick up around 500 points a season, they will have to be taken out of school and go to 80% of every away game for 12 years just to reach 6k points by then it would of been increased at least once its almost impossible to reach the top limit, these are the future clarets and there has to be a way of them catching up to parent's points totals, this is my problem I've got almost 10k points but two younger fan's in my group that travel don't have the max 6k and will probably never catch up if it increases again and again, I've got to wait until the points total drops for me to be able to buy for all three of us but it always sells out, yes that's hard luck on my behalf but the future fan's aren't being looked after I don't know the answer but it definitely needs a shake up
There have been a lot of away games gone on general sale.

You could buy a ticket and not go to up your points.

But I agree the 10 points seems very low. Perhaps 30 would be a more acceptable amount.

Of course you get points for travelling to home games, otherwise it would just be silly. So your situation is simple;

You travel from Oakworth to Burnley which is just 18 miles, so whilst you're more loyal than those who live in Burnley, you're could be a lot more loyal. So your base loyalty point calculation is 100 points x 0.18 = 18 loyalty points.

Your son is a bit more loyal than you, living 25 miles away, however BFC don't care that you pick your son up. So his base loyalty point calculation is 100 points x 0.25 = 25 loyalty points.

The fact that you travel in an EV is great news for both you and your son, as not only are you both moderately loyal Burnley fans, you have a greater conscience. So rather than being penalised by the High-Carbon Factor (HCF)' of 0.2, which would bring your loyalty points down to 3.6 points and 5 points respectively, you are rewarded with a Green Incentive Multiplier (GIM) of 1.5 - bringing your loyalty points total to 27, and your son's to 37.5.

And bingo, you'll be getting tickets for Bloomfield Road in no time, provided we ever play there again.
Thanks for calculating that Rileybobs. So my son gains when I pick him up in my EV !!
Pity we can’t go to Blackpool due to train strikes and my range anxiety!!! Would have to charge on the prom my plugging into the illuminations to get home 😉

I’m not wearing a bra as a tracker! My dog has a microchip. Maybe I could bring my dog or if that breaches ground safety regulations I would have to have a chip installed?

I work this day, I work these hours, I have to start at x time, I don't finish until y time

Maybe you should have done a little better at school then.

Some aren't even prepared to put a bit of effort into actually getting tickets, then proceed to blame the club, the staff or other fans when they muss out!

Totally agree with you but that's not my point. I know at least 20 people that are going blackpool that haven't been away for season's. They wouldn't be going if we was 10th in the league

Good booze up and day out with their pals.
We've 2 "Man Utd fans" coming with us, and obviously don't even have season tickets.
There's also another 3 or 4 who are Burnley fans but don't have season tickets.
The rest of the 17 or so have points ranging from 3k-9k
If it was purely down to those who had 6k+ points our group going over would be 8 or 9 rather than 24.

I'm damb sure they'll be plenty of kids under 12 too, which it's impossible for them to have 6k points, but that's just how it is

If you want a ticket enough you'll get 1 if you put in the required effort.

Yeah but if they have 6000 loyalty points they would be going to every home game, the same as they had been doing every year for 10 years, pumping money into the club irrespective of where we are in the league or even what league we're in.

It's your choice not to do that, but the consequence of that choice is that you're not top of the priority list for away tickets (which contribute nothing to the revenue of BFC).

You get to pick and choose your home games, they get to pick and choose their away games.

An online queue works for every other type of event, many events way bigger than Burnley away games. There's no need to differentiate. We're all supporters.
Yes I agree with this. I can't think of a fairer system than one where everbody has an equal chance of getting a ticket for a particular game. I am not sure that it would be widely accepted however and I also have a feeling that it would cause technical problems.

My personal view is that if someone got a ticket for Huddersfield (for example) then they should have been at the back of the queue for Blackpool...so overall everybody has a good chance of getting tickets for at least some high demand games but nobody is guaranteed to get to all of them.

And to be fair, as stated, you’re almost guaranteed one for most away games
