Nah, they'll just give him another 500 million to spend in the summer. You don't ditch a manager like PepVincent'sCap wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:53 pmHe will be City manager a lot sooner than we think ...Pep is losing the plot at City,he will be ready to hand the reigns over to Kompany very soon sadly.
Pep will walk away from the City job.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:56 pmNah, they'll just give him another 500 million to spend in the summer. You don't ditch a manager like Pep
City will want a proven managerial winner to carry on the progression of the club, especially if Pep can't deliver a CL trophy.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:53 pmHe will be City manager a lot sooner than we think ...Pep is losing the plot at City,he will be ready to hand the reigns over to Kompany very soon sadly.
I disagree with that. I'm going to work on the basis plucked from thin air that Pep leaves of his own volition at the latest by the end of 23/24. Pep was given the Barcelona job having done what Kompany is doing now (smashing it in the lowed divisions), plus Kompany has Anderlecht experience on top, so he's got more time served than Pep had when he was made Barcelona manager. Not only that, but Kompany is one of, of not the hottest up and coming manager on earth. City would be foolish to let him slip past them when Pep leaves and lose him to a rival in this country or abroad. There's no Burnley bias there, what he's doing is miraculous. He knows City, he knows the PL, he knows the CL, he's the most natural successor to Pep's style of play, the move would suit him (family), and he's honestly too good that he doesn't need a stepping stone before he goes to City, and I think he knows that. Who else would he go to in England, assuming his final destination is City, and assuming he knows City will want him eventually? He won't go to the other top six sides because City couldn't poach him from them. Spurs? They're rubbish. Arsenal? They're fixed up with Arteta. Chelsea? Rich, but a shambles, no transfer flexibility. Liverpool? Klopp will be given years to rebuild. UTD? Obviously not. He wouldn't go to a Villa-type, big upper-mid table club because we won't be far off competing with them next season anyway. He won't go Belgium national team because that's a retirement plan. All the foundations are there at City. He doesn't need a club between us and City if he keeps us playing the way we are for a season. It's if Pep stays on beyond next season that Kompany'll have to consider offers elsewhere. He'll outgrow us eventually, and I reckon City is ideal for everyone, even including us, because there's no way Pep leaves mid-season, so that means it's a summer move, which give us time to adjust.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 7:32 pmCity will want a proven managerial winner to carry on the progression of the club, especially if Pep can't deliver a CL trophy.
Kompany has yet to prove he can win trophies regularly as a manager, or even compete for them.
