Here's something I didn't know ...
In 17 league and cup games at Turf Moor this season, we've been leading at half time only 3 times. But have won 13 and drawn 4 at full time.
(Blackpool, Swansea, and Birmingham.)

Great information. Was saying something along these lines today but didn't realise it was quite this profound

Good stat, it shows how we wear teams down. It must be hard to keep running around for 90+ minutes, the way we work the ball around.

Or, our passing game eventually tires opponents who press hard, leaving us able to pick them off later in the game.

I think it's both, most of Kompany's little tactical tweaks and substitutions have been spot onhoskinsgoalatswansea wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 3:28 amOr, our passing game eventually tires opponents who press hard, leaving us able to pick them off later in the game.

VKs subs have turned games consistently. Fresh legs and pace paying off.
Re: Here's something I didn't know ...
For all the groans you hear when our team pass the ball between defence, I don't think there's the recognition of what they are doing to grind down the opposition and tire them out ready for our full on attacks/super subs in the second half.
The Ipswich striker last night ran the line so well, pressing all on his own. Best player I thought but seemingly had to be subbed second half as he was no doubt shattered!

That really is an incredible stat. Amongst other things, it highlights how important a strong bench can be in the championship

Several factors to explain this stat, our possession based game wearing opponents down late in proceedings, quality of subs we can bring on, and our ability to play until the final whistle.
It can't be a coincidence we score so many late winners, and the opposition often pay for their time wasting tactics.

Jack cork has been booked 13 times in his last 27 games, could end up missing 7 games this season.

Re: Here's something I didn't know ...
Here's a question I don't know the answer to.
How many times, if at all, have we failed to score at the Jimmy Mac end ?
I ask this because, when I have the young grandchildren with me, they sometimes
get concerned that we havent scored in the 1st half or we're drawing at halftime
and I always say not to worry as they always score in this end, and to be fair, on those occasions, they always have.
(We sit in the Bob Lord in line with the edge of the penalty area at the Jimmy Mac end)
Another question, how do we always manage to play the same way each and every game.
I assume it's the home team's advantage to choose - either that or we're very very lucky !!!!
