We’ll never play you again
Who remembers the nobbers singing this to us at Deepdale the season we went 19 without a win under Cotterill? Sang it right back at them a year later when Jack cork scored with a diving header right in front of us.We are superior is one of their favourites as well.

I hated them as a kid, Ricardo Fuller scoring for fun and Alexander (pen) etc. Two good honest clubs tbf, we just got a little bit of luck which they’ve not had.
Said on another thread, it’s always been my favourite Derby, not as intense as Blackburn which is a day I usually dread.
Really looking forward to today, don’t mind Preston but hope we stuff them today

Re: We’ll never play you again
We are very similar clubs. It goes to show it only takes one season for everything to align at the right time, and it can change everything for the next few years.
Preston we're unlucky with those playoff defeats in the early 2000’s, while we invested back into the club after a freak promotion and then yoyo’ed with Sean Dyche while they hired the likes of Graham Westley and treaded water for the next two decades.
I'd love to see us Preston and Blackpool in the Premier League together though

Re: We’ll never play you again
Growing up watching through the early 90s was a mixed bag in our derbies.
Some great results, some stuffings.
Nowadays we seem to be the best Lancashire can offer.
Apart from Accy Stanley we will have the bragging rights over all the other clubs at the minute. We even won a do at Wigan.

I'll always remember Robbie Blake's fk at the BHE against them when I think of Preston.

It’s absolutely hilarious that these “Superior” dicks are the only one of the big Lancashire clubs never play in the Prem.
That can stay the case for ever for me.

Re: We’ll never play you again
I can remember driving back from the game there in 2011 when Jack scored the diving head near the end, listening to Radio Lancs and one of there supporters was getting really angry at us singing it back at them, asking who did we think we were thinking we were superior over them

The only one of the big Lancashire clubs never to make it to the Premier League and can't see that changing any time soon. Reckon Morecambe will get there before PNE do.
Although we are, let's not sing "We Are Superior" today. That was their cringey thing. I'd like to hear a sarcastic "You Are Superior" just after Zaroury slams in the fourth.

Re: We’ll never play you again
Also, I really hope they are playing in white today.
Not only because its good to see a derby being played in their home kits, but so we do t have to hear that droning “yelllllllows, yellllllllows” chant they do

Re: We’ll never play you again
There was a classic thread on the PKE boards mocking us when we appointed Coyle and they appointed Irvine.
It was comparable in hilarity with the Middlesbrough clown taking the **** out of us for signing Nick Pope when they’d just signed old codger Valdes.

Re: We’ll never play you again
They seriously blew their big opportunities to get promoted in the noughties. Had a good squad and managers but it just goes to show what happens if you don’t take advantage. Nicely topped off by them failing in the playoffs in 2009 and us going up to the PL first time of asking. Living in Preston, I actually don’t mind them as a club and fanbase - far better than those bandwagon riding idiots down the road. They’re usually an honest bunch and we are very similar clubs - there’s grudging respect towards us. Hopefully they’ve learned a brutal lesson from their ‘we are superior’ chant. It’s difficult to see how they’re going to get up any time soon.

Re: We’ll never play you again
Disappointing. It’s an irrational irritation of mine when teams play in change kits when there’s no need.
Saying that, as a u13 coach with 2 different sponsors for the home/away kits I sometimes have to do it myself

I always prefer the Blackpool ones too
The thing that always sticks in my mind about the PNE one is the girl ripping up her program (I think that's what it was) after we beat them at turf, I think the video is probably on YouTube somewhere.

My favourite ever free kick goal and a thing of absolute beauty. Don’t know about “like an arrow” though … it’s more of an arcing cruise missile the way it curves through the air and kisses the post as it goes in.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:53 amI'll always remember Robbie Blake's fk at the BHE against them when I think of Preston.

Oops sorry EDIT - I thought you meant the one at Deepdale in the Coyle promotion season. Yes the one at the Turf was def an arrow !

To think PNE have had quite a few opportunities to get promoted to the Prem and taken none. Yet we've never missed a chance to go up when the chance presents itself.

Re: We’ll never play you again
Once upon a time Blackburn was a dread but now it's a relish there should be no doubt who the east lancs top dogs are nowadays, rovers have been in decline now for a long while since the days of JW with a dwindling fanbase & uninterested owners.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 7:25 amI hated them as a kid, Ricardo Fuller scoring for fun and Alexander (pen) etc. Two good honest clubs tbf, we just got a little bit of luck which they’ve not had.

As long as we save a couple for midweek. 3 on the trot without scoring against Watford.claret2018 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 11:53 amSomeone is due an absolute hammering at the Turf. Hopefully it’s today
Re: We’ll never play you again
Remember getting beat 5-1 midweek at deepdale, Ian bray with consolation goal, on that awful plastic pitch, but the main reason I dislike them is mark lawrenson!
Re: We’ll never play you again
I have a sneaking suspicion that it is in fact *we* who are superior.

Re: We’ll never play you again
I thought Preston were really unlucky. They were plucky, creative, courageous and if they hadn't been so unbelievably awful I think they could have only lost 2 nil.
