To be fair it is the worst possible draw, especially with 3 lower ranked teams than us still in itBilly Balfour wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:13 pmWe are through to the last eight and people are crying. Some are even saying the draw was fixed. Embarrassing and pathetic.

Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
For all Dyche's supposed defensive brilliance we still shipped 4 and 5 often enough against this lot and hardly looked like scoring.
I'd like to think we'll at least threaten them this time. At the very least it will act as a high quality mid season friendly for our new team to play a few of the best 20 or so players in the world.

Must say ... I was rather hoping for this :-
Man Utd v Man City
Brighton v Blackburn
Sheff Utd v Fulham
Burnley v Grimsby

At least we will give it a good go. Last quarter final I remember some idiot decided to share the prize money and the team went out with a whimper.

I don't believe it's fixed just bad luck on our part.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:13 pmWe are through to the last eight and people are crying. Some are even saying the draw was fixed. Embarrassing and pathetic.
Let's be honest would you have picked City away given the options available, because I wouldn't.
Not to say we can't spring a surprise, but City rarely lose against lower league sides in the cup, and they'll play a full strength side at this stage, so I hope we go strong to at least give us a chance to assess how far away we really are.
No disgrace if we go out as long as we at least put up a fight which I'm sure we will.

Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
Hot and cold balls at work again.
Shearer couldn’t even pronounce “six” when he pulled the first ball out. Typical of a former rovers player to give us that.
We’ll give it a go for sure, but city aren’t going to throw away a quarter finals game.

You had one job Alan, one job!!!! FFSCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:10 pmI’m sure Shearer was saying ‘8’ before he looked at the ball.
To add insult to injury, they get an extra day’s rest playing Leipzig on the Tuesday at home whereas we are away at Hull on the Wednesday. Then we get an international break so they don’t have to worry about what comes next.
Would have been better getting United with Weghurst ineligible if those are the rules.

Go back over several decades and you will find that the FA Cup has been lifted by a “top 6 club” and on the rare occasions that it wasn’t one of the “top 6 clubs “ was in the Final.
Those are the rules.

I don't think anybody expects us to lift the cup, however a trip to Wembley would have been a novelty even for a semi-final.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:22 pmGo back over several decades and you will find that the FA Cup has been lifted by a “top 6 club” and on the rare occasions that it wasn’t one of the “top 6 clubs “ was in the Final.

With the teams left in the quarters, I was getting a bit giddy thinking Wembley was cut and dried ( almost ) now it seems light years off - but hope springs eternal !

Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
The reserves will get an absolute turning over, not sure that will help mentality for next season.
So, with a 2 week break following, we have to be at full strength or it is crazy. If we can win our upcoming league games we will be virtually up and it would be zero risk with a very small chance to win.
Good for Muric if he can play at City. We have to treat it as our big day out. An easier trip than getting them at Wembley, which eventually we would.

We have to have our bogey man in these glum moments
Even though we knew it was a 1 in 14 chance of drawing City away it seemed more inevitable than that. Just gutting when all those league sides caused shocks, I expected it to be 7 PL sides and us.

Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
Apparently, Man Utd have now had 10 consecutive FA and EFL Cup HOME draws.
Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
That's the problem with getting a "celebrity" type ex-player to make the draw. I mean, no-one but an utter fool would seriously think that Shearer could be bribed to give a favourable draw to Man United while screwing over Blackburn, but simply because he's an ex-player there are quite a few empty vessels bleating on about how every single person who has ever worked for the FA is totally corrupt and how the FA's principal reason for existence is to do us down.
There are two possible reasons why Man U and Man C weren't drawn together. One, because Alan Shearer and numerous other FA officials are irredeemably corrupt; two, because there was an 86% chance that they would be kept apart.

And we have never been drawn against Preston in 150 years of the cup.1882Clarets1882 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:54 pmApparently, Man Utd have now had 10 consecutive FA and EFL Cup HOME draws.

Well that draw certainly wasn't ideal.
But if there's anyone who knows how to win at the Etihad it's Kompany...

If that’s true it’s outrageous. How can you be drawn at home 10 times in a row?!1882Clarets1882 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:54 pmApparently, Man Utd have now had 10 consecutive FA and EFL Cup HOME draws.

Spot on. We have some incredibly gullible and moronic fans.

Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
It's really not outrageous. For each draw, the odds are the same. The draws have no memory of the previous draw. If you flip a coin all day, you'll land on heads ten times in a row at some point. OOOoooOooOo spooky! Fix!
Re: FA Cup 6th Round Draw Thread
Hilarious that people say it's a fix (it's all over social media). The UK government can't even keep a Christmas party under wraps, there's absolutely no way that anybody involved in this FA 'fix' wouldn't let it slip.
