Roads

Post by sox8595 » Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:15 am

Anybody been out on the roads this morning? Just tried getting off the car park and having to get a shovel.
If the roads are as bad as this further down I'm going back to bed.(05:00 up Syke)

I work in Bacup, reports of 9 inches over there.

I won't be getting out of bed.

Nearer the Town Centre (Burnley), no one moved in the cul-de-sac but I can report that Trafalgar Street seems to be running freely (upstairs window view).

So looks like the normal issues, where I am. Drive with patience, care and give extra time for journeys. Main roads clear, side roads treacherous.

If you can, have a day off.

Roads in and out of Clitheroe and Whalley are OK.

The A6068 out of Padiham up to the M65 is currently shut.

Hyndburn was horrendous this morning, Clayton side. Burnley was bad down Westgate at 7am, that surprise snow really caught those councils out. Was really unexpected this snow .........

Roads through Burnley (including past the Turf) are absolutely fine. M65 is just wet. Pavements could be dodgy once the snow freezes overnight tonight.

24 inches here and safe to say Wigan won’t be watched by me :(

The 4WD Tesla should be fine but is currently looking like a white bowling ball but I’ll dig it out tomorrow and have a go.

M65 running ok. Off the main roads it's about 2-3inch deep and it's thawing now.

Only 4WD Tesla? Mine's 5WD
And 25 inches of snow here outside my country residence, can just make out the giraffe's ossicones poking out from the drifts.

Similar here just north of Sheffield. Didn't stop for about 48 hours and supposed to be -8 tonight. Might save myself for Hull and Man City.

A small amount fell last night in Glasgow, however it's now sunny if cold, and most of the snow has gone.

Seems to be a bit of a thaw under way, car was covered with 3 or 4 inches, nearly all melted now, same with the road outside.

It'll be reyt.

24 degrees, with sunshine and blue skies here on the Costa del Sol. I saw plenty of people down on the beach a short while ago. I don’t think I’ll have many problems getting to the Underground Bar on Saturday to watch the Clarets, I just hope the Mahou is well chilled.

Sounds good, but it's a close call. These Turf Moor days are to be cherished at the moment.

Anyone been on road to Skipton/Ilkley/Guiseley today? My daughter is hoping to come to the game tomorrow and we’re wondering whether the roads will be safe.
Thanks in advance.
