The Knopfler brothers were from Newcastle.
Two other founder members were from Leicestershire.
They moved to London to get a start in the business.

I saw the map with all the answers last week. I won’t ruin the comp but there are a few I disagree with. One is a trio for Dorset where only 1 member was from Dorset. Deep Purple are given for a county and not one member of the original line-up were from close to that county.

As said, aren’t they all IOM? Although did they grow up in Manchester? My offering of Aphex Twin grew up in Cornwall but I think may actually be Irish.
