FAO CTID

There’s a tribute page to your Da on FB. All praise of course but he’s worth it all.

Wish I was CTID.......but, anyway, let's return to this thread later tonight, after a key game, to give our greatest ever goalscorer the credit he deserves.

No disrespect to Willie, but the state of that shirt. Did we really turn out for games in kit in that condition?

Folk were far more interested in watching how we played back then instead of how they looked doing it. :D

George Beel and Bert Freeman were obviously legends within our Club......but Willie Irvine is in living memory.

That 1965/66 season will never be repeated.

Two incredible consecutive performances, 10 goals in 7 appearances in Oct/Nov '65, then 9 goals in 6 games March/ April'67......the man was very special and CTID must be incredibly proud.

That broken leg at Goodison in January '67 curtailed what would have been our greatest goalscorer of all-time.

Hard to believe that our 'hero' is going to be 80 years old within a few short weeks.

The very best of health to the man.

No thanks required CTID......in fact we are thankful for the magical memories over those few seasons before your Dad's career at Burnley was cut short after that horrible tackle at Everton in early '67.

29 goals in one 42 game season with so many highlights......For me probably the best was the header against Liverpool in '66......remains the finest headed goal I've ever seen.......Would love to hear from your Dad any recollections he has of that goal.
