We stayed until the final whisyle so we could show our appreciation to the players, not for last night's game, but for the season so far.
I can fully understand those that were leaving early to get home in decent time, especially with the train strikes and the queues for trams etc. I think quite a number of fans who left maybe don't attend that many games. I saw a family who love on the same street as myself there, the kids usually wear united shirts.
What I can't understand is why the ammount of City fans left early. Maybe its because the fans are mainly tourists? Plenty of them had their half and half scarves and where taking selfies with the statues etc outside. Wouldn't get many other teams where that ammount of fans leave at 6 nil up

Can’t believe I let my lad talk me into going in the first place. This is definitely the last time.
We were back on the M67 before the match finished.

See I do the opposite and stay for about 4 hours after the match has finished so I take take in the views of the stadium. I am an ultra fan, better than everyone else.

I left 15 mins before the end. As a result, the journey back to Sheffield took me 1hr 10. Also went last time when it was 5 -0 and stayed until the end.....it took me nearly 3 hours. Last night was well worth it.
Re: Fans leaving on 70 minutes. Jokers.
Definitely, the last time we played there under Dyche was on a Saturday afternoon and there can't have been more than 1300 of us there. I only really went for a few beers in Manchester and a bit of a day out.Lord Beamish wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:20 pmIt’d be interesting to see what the away attendance was at the Ethihad over our 6 season stay in the Prem under Dyche. I’d bet that it started to dwindle as our trips there showed diminishing returns.

Left at 90mins, stopped at maccies and rising bridge that was packed and was out walking the dog before 930pm. Easy

After 10 minutes of the game I stood a bit funny and heard my knee snap, it turns out I've ruptured my MCL. I left on 80 mins so I wasn't battling through crowds to get out. My point is everyone has their own reasons for leaving when they want too. It's no one else's business you end.

I left at the end and even called into Asda! Back to the car in about 15 mins and away. Very good. Mind you, a charge armt Hilton Park South and then Amesbury meant I was not home until 1.45am! Had to charge as airport early tomorrow. Had a nice snooze!

Why do some people care so much about when another adult chooses to leave a football ground? If it was your mate and he was your lift home and so was forcing you to also leave early, then yeah. Have a grumble. But a complete stranger who has no bearing on your life whatsoever?

Just got back to shrewsbury , stayed in Manchester last night due to the train strikes . We stayed until the end and then went for the tram - nightmare . At 11pm last night , there were still plenty of clarets out in deansgate well oiled but behaving themselves.

I hold my hand up to being tempted, the car park looked a nightmare in waiting.
I left it up to the Grandson and he wanted to stay to the end, so we gave the lads a well deserved round of applause.
It took 30 mins to get out of the car park mind.

Its the single braincelled idiots who are calling people who have "legitimate" reasons to leave early (be it medical or otherwise) who need to take a long hard look in the mirror over this ...davideyresleftear wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 12:48 pmWhy do some people care so much about when another adult chooses to leave a football ground? Its not anything to do with them in any way shape or form who leaves a match at any point ... anyone who buys a ticket for anything has a right to leave whenever they like ... its up to them (not the single braincelled idiot) when they wish to leave.
One numpty (shall remain un-named as I wouldn't want to "pin" a label on him) on here, was calling out someone who had a train to catch, and because they had had an operation on a shoulder or something a few weeks earlier, had left with 5 minutes to go, so he didn't get knocked in the rush... The numpty said he should have waited 10 minutes until everyone else had left (even though it meant he would have missed his train and connections)
Sadly these are the sort of idiots we have to put up with ....

I have respect to all fellow Clarets. My fellow fan who drove stayed until the final whistle. There should be some leaving police to check credentials. It upsets me to watch us lose in that fashion and rather than become tearful I left at 4. I have seen us lose at Macclesfield, Crewe etc but we have now had two FA quarter finals in 20 years and failed dramatically. Superb season but VK got it wrong yesterday. On a side note how many goals as BPF conceded at the Eitihaad? On a positive noteI had two good pints waiting for my lift!!!!

I've been to 6 away games this season, been a season ticket holder since I was 7, been to city away 3 times now, yesterday I left after the 3rd goal so after 47 minutes, why? Well I wanted a beer and to enjoy the rest of my day rather than watching the second half which was obviously going to be another pasting. I'm pretty sure I made the right decision

It's not so much the beer, it's having a good time, being in that ground watching us get dicked wasn't my idea of a good time, but yeah I was eager to get back in the pubfidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:12 pmSo, you paid thirty odd quid to watch basically one half of football, as a beer was more important?

Take the point about the £30 though haha you win some you lose some, my point was the opening post is stupid really calling us jokers like we're not proper fans but I've literally spent thousands watching Burnley, I can leave when I want or stay if I want, if we'd of been in at half time at 0-0 I wouldn't of been thinking about the pub

Clarets fans punted £30 on the slim chance the 16/1 shot would come off. By minute 59 that punt was over. If then they chose to leave what is the issue. Sit in a warm pub drowning sorrows or brave it out because our peers say we should stay for 90 mins. Come on!!!!

I stayed until the end. The remaining fans were fantastic. But I could quite easily have left early after the 5th or 6th goal if those I was with decided they wanted to leave early to get a seat in the pub.
If people have bought their ticket fairly they can stay for as little or as long as they like for me. People have their reasons.

I have a chapter on 80 minute leavers
A chapter on 70 minute leavers
A chapter on 60 minute leavers
A chapter on those leaving because the Mrs has gone into labour
A chapter on those staying cos the Mrs has gone into labour
A chapter on those who have gone into labour
A chapter on those leaving early to join the Tory party
A chapter on blackburn fans who never leave their house
It’s a real page turner

Re: Fans leaving on 70 minutes. Jokers.
I stayed til the end...though was questioning my sanity a bit tbh...because I thought it right to give the team a clap in acknowledgement of their efforts in reaching the last 8 and because I didn't want the players to be discouraged for the (very important) reminder of this season by looking at an empty away end !! I don't have hugely strong feelings about early leavers and can only speak for myself saying this.

It sounds a good book, but I would like to suggest some minor edits:
- A half time leavers chapter. Sure that can be a very short one summarising those fans as complete plastics.
- Then a post full time leavers (the ones that stay and sing, wave the players off, do the 3x ole thing) as the most credible, ultra fans.
- Then suggest two chapters of acceptable and un acceptable reasons to leave earlier than 90 minutes. Wife going in to Labour can exist in both for reasons stated, and particularly if it’s not yours. I’m thinking MCLs and Rudy’s pizza need to be in different chapters. Good luck on the beat the traffic, that’s contentious!

i suspect the ones saying "why does it matter to you" are the ones leaving early.
2000 people cant have a "medical reason" to have to leave early.
its as good as the "kids got school in the morning" arguement, school always starts at the same time. whats the reason they leave at 80mins on a 3pm saturday kick off? sunday school?

Another who stayed to the end because I felt this team deserved to see a packed away end cheering them on at the final whistle because of what they have given us this season. I’m glad I did because the atmosphere was brilliant and I’m sure it was appreciated by VK and the team.

Why can’t they wait until the final whistle to applaud the team off for their efforts. Win, lose or draw. That’s what real Burnley fans do. Not desert them when they are needed most. VK has already made comment and noticed that the stadium starts emptying early. Bizarre people. Stay and support the team until the end.
