I’m not sure where he fits and for that kind of money I’m really not sure he is worth it. Tella has a better record and I suspect he will be cheaper than Gykores.

Id imagine he would be the starting striker. With Foster and Obafemi in rotation / sometimes used in a 2 with him.

Take your point on Cornet (although diff positions) and I’m sure we’ll still be looking into Europe for value. Having someone already accustomed to England and that the manager knows quite well can be of benefit, though.

I just can't see a lot of money being spent this summer in English football. (I know we have said it plenty of times)

Most clubs are carrying plenty of debt and with interest rates shooting up, it will only get harder for these clubs. FFP crackdowns will stop the stupid owners like Moshri and that plank at Forest.

The likely promoted clubs are under transfer embargo's and the play off winner most likely won't spend that much.

Unless Utd get taken over and start buying the best Premier league talent off smaller clubs, to start a merry go round?

Just spent a record amount in January. Can’t see why that slows down. Likely an increase in TV money from the following season, giving another reason for clubs to push to stay in the league. Both promoted clubs will be out of transfer embargo’s by the summer.

Chelsea must have spent their 3 years worth of FFP in one window, which inflated everything, remember the European competitions are much stricter and they can't miss out on that.

Does anyone know how much more we might secure in TV money next year if promoted? I understood we’d have got ~£4m more this year, had we stayed up, so is there an even bigger jump next?

I'm not sure, some made out it was nothing and could be rectified swiftly.

I half expected an announcement by now, they have been working on the accounts for 5 months now.
I don't know how long it should take, but if it was me and I was trying to attract investment, I would be hurrying them up.

Roughly the same… the PL have done a new deal with EA Sports worth an extra 4m per club starting next season. But that may be cancelled out if the PL have to give more money to the EFL.

It’s the season after (2024-25) onwards where the new TV cycle would kick in and with the likes of Apple, Amazon and DAZN rumoured to be in the bidding, I’d suggest it will rise another 10-20%.

I don’t think we’ll see anything until the end of April, the last possible moment when the accounts are due at CH.

I don’t think there can be anything ‘wrong’ in this set. We had £50m in the bank in the previous lot, spent the season in the PL, probably had a much lower wage bill given bonus reductions, etc.

I just think they’ll reveal more about the deal and its structure and therefore ALK won’t want to ‘rush it’. At least until we’re promoted.

Just so I understand, are you saying this year was £4m more, next year will be the same (subject to EFL not taking a larger cut), so we might be £8m up on where we were when we left?

Unaware of anything this season. The deal with EA kicks in from next season.

May’ve got that mistaken then - albeit I’d thought the uplift was due to an overseas TV deal. Cheers RV.

Hopefully he’s researching away in the background and will have all the answers for us on 7th April then.

Two very different players.

Cornet stood out in a rigid, almost lifeless Dyche team. He was an enigma capable of incredible moments. However, he never played 90 minutes for us and that speaks volumes; especially given SD's tendency to not change his team. Looking back now, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, I'd say the business we did with Cornet was fantastic. The profit we made on him paid for Zaroury and I know who has the brighter future. Would Cornet stand out more than Tella, Zaroury or Benson have in a VK set up?

The lad from Coventry is the best striker I've seen at the Turf this season by some distance. He was a real handful and very direct, as well as being physical. If there's a chance we can sign him, we should give it serious thought!

Not sure how anyone who was at Turf Moor when we beat Coventry 1-0 could have seen Gyokeres and not been hugely impressed. That was a ready made Premier League striker, without a shadow of a doubt. Why his price would be seen as OTT at £12-15m when that is what we paid for the likes of Chris Wood and Matej Vydra is beyond me. He is a good age, perfect profile to be a long term replacement for the likes of Jay Rod and we may well have a bit of an 'in' on the deal due to McNally. 'Gerrit done.

Interesting article about the money ball style of Brighton and Brentford, probably something we're trying to replicate here judging by how unknown most of our signings were last summer.

Gyokeres gets a mention

He played well but he missed an easy chance that a 15m pound striker should be scoring.

If the fee is around 10m then bring him in.

If you are expecting Gyokeres in the summer you are in for a long wait because if we were going to get him we would have done so by now also that sort of money would only come through fresh investment from outside into the club, but fingers crossed 🤞

Foster and Obefemi have been signed for the PL.

The club will most likely have alternative options lined up to replace the likes of Barnes etc instead of paying a fortune for Gyokeres

How would we have signed him by now? Cov demanded 20m last summer and in January. They wanted to keep him to try push for the play offs (which they might get). In the summer, it’s likely they will sell as 1. They need to rebuild their squad 2. He’s only a year left on his contract. If they want McNally, there could be a deal there to be done at around 15m or less I reckon.

As for the source of the funds, we will have PL revenues of around 120-130m next season and it’s possible several players will be sold (eg Weghorst).

From the sounds of it, other PL clubs are keen and there’s even mention of European clubs like Milan, I doubt we will get him, but not for any of the reasons you’ve suggested.

If we can get him, which feels doubtful for various reasons, then he would strengthen us and would probably be our best forward by quite a margin.

Obafemi is a loan signing who, as far as I can remember, has yet to start a game
Given the fact that he has not yet started before Barnes or Foster would suggest he is far from PL material
A striker and cm's should be our priority this summer

Hoever is his last name , he joined Wolves from Liverpool , I think as part of the deal for Jota. Originally a centre back but played as a right back / wing back against our neighbours when he scored twice a few weeks ago.

When we signed Obafemi he hadn’t played for months, and had been training with the U21s. I think when he’s fully fit and up to speed with our methods, he’ll play a more active role. Whether he’s Good enough for the premier league we’ll have to wait and see.

Yeah - he also said today that Gyokeres has appointed a new 'big time' agent in Sweden ahead of a move this summer.

I think we won't make the cut on this one. I wonder if we might look at Joel Piroe at Swansea, only 23 and just a year left on his contract. Tidy footballer and can finish. Maybe a bit cheaper as Swansea need the cash.

Yes Piroe would probably be more realistic and looks a decent player from what I've seen, which is less than Gyokeres

Will depend if they go down. Of their remaining 11 games they have Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool and Newcastle to play.

Not sure how that compares with others, but some tough ones in there.
