Just wondering how many of these awful players feature in the top flight each week?
Pope
Mee
Tarks
Trippier
Wood
Cornet
McNeil
Weghorst
Keane
Collins
Ings

Who have I missed? Also, reckon that’s a top 10 team there..

Don't think you're finishing top 10 without a midfield but you're on your way to having a decent side.

Some very good players there…. Maybe they just didn’t fancy playing for us?

With the exception of Weghorst each and everyone of them were little short of superb for us and often carried the team . Great to see such claret legends having long and successful careers .

Not sure what the point of this post is.

It sort of flies in the face of “we played the way we did because we had to”, which I don’t think was the intention.

Hennesey’s probably played as much as Cornet.

I don’t remember anyone worth listening to describing any of those players as awful.

In fact, several of them were called up to the England squad whilst they were here.

Maybe a thinly disguised pop at our manager of the time. 🤔🙁

They might have done had we paid them enough, there won't be 1 single player on that list who isn't earning more than our current top earner.

Some really good players in that list, but they’d get pumped every single week without a midfield.

Finally, Tarky gets his chance...

Not out of the question that 7 players on that list suffer relegation this season.

Which suggests to me they are decent lower end PL players, but only Mee. Pope & Trippier can be confident they'll be PL players next season.

Weghorst who knows whether Man Utd will want him long term.

And many of those aren't guaranteed starters, or are making fleeting appearances from the bench.

No one would deny they all did well for us (Weghorst apart) however we've moved on as a club and have an exciting new team to admire.

Exactly why we were longball merchants. Apart from Steven Defour never signed any top quality midfielders in the Prem

Since when has ~£50k a week not been enough to kick a bag of wind around.

When the said players can earn more elsewhere.

Players in League 1 and the championship have been on more than that, so in the PL it's small change

Spot on, it's a sad indictment but the truth that modern day football revolves around money.
