Quite the coup for Clitheroe as they sign 35 year old Marc Pugh to help their promotion push

Good luck to him and them. Last time I saw him on tv he was very much involved with healthy eating and taking his business around professional football clubs. A Rawtenstall lad and claret through and through.

His brother already plays at the club so think he’s managed to convince him to join. Marc is also donating his wages to charity. Brilliant signing for them.

Actually a Stacksteads lad if we're nit picking. But as you say a Claret. Home built in Whalley so near to Clitheroe.

His career is a great story really. Released from Championship academy at 16 (was it Tenant or Cotteril?) did the rounds in the lower leagues, then hit gold with Howe at Bournemouth and their success up the leagues to play in to the PL for a few seasons.

Nice lad as well. I went to school with him.

His brother Lee played at Colne for a few years. Good defender at that level.

Wasn't released at 16 by Burnley - he was with us until 19 and had been on the bench for the first team - eventually dropping down into non-league before moving to Bournemouth, then in League One. Interestingly, at a Q&A just after Howe had come to Burnley, he suggested Pugh was at his level at League One and he wouldn't consider bringing him to Burnley.

All credit to Pughy, had a really good career in the end and played in 67 Premier League games.

He's been playing 5 a side with some lads at Oakhill in Whalley recently, he should dominate for Clitheroe.

As long as Clitheroe don’t play him in goal.

He once went in goal for our reserves at Blackpool and conceded seven goals. He made John Spicer look like Manuel Neuer.

He won't find it easy. There are some decent sides in that league; Leek, Workington, Runcorn are all well drilled teams with some experienced players, while Macclesfield are running away with the title.

Clitheroe are an interesting team. I swear they’ve finished 5th or 6th for the past 10 years. A good mate of mine plays for them so I get down to watch when I can. He said they got ran all over the place at Macclesfield.
