Best really small/compact smartphone?

Post by Mala591 » Tue Mar 21, 2023 11:44 am

Hate large phones which are designed for a handbag?

After detailed research I’ve come to the conclusion that the - iPhone 13 mini - is the best really small phone that will fit comfortably in a trouser pocket.

5.4” screen
128 GB storage
£645 from apple

Does anyone own this model (it must be the ‘mini’ one) and would you recommend it?

Thanks

It's knocking on a bit now, but my Samsung A40 fits exactly that bill. I've been offered free upgrades to bigger phones and resisted.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and really like it. It can be used easily with one hand and the battery life is decent enough but expect to charge it every night if you’re a moderate user.

My wife has a normal iPhone 14 Pro and it just feels too big and bulky.

Buy British and have a look at the Nothing Phone (1) which is made in the UK by a UK based tech firm.

I've literally just got a 13 mini, absolutely perfect size, love the form factor.

I traded some stuff in to CEX and got it relatively cheaply. Think it was £475 but they come with a 24 month warranty, it still has 100% battery capacity and came boxed as new.

I'd recommend looking at CEX before you buy direct and save yourself a few £££

There's not much difference in size when you compare it with a iPhone SE 20/22.

I would love a modern smartphone that is similar in size to an old BlackBerry Q10.

Having convinced myself that it was time for an 'upgrade' I bought the Pixel 6 which is excellent but not really any more excellent than the Pixel 3a that now weighs down paper on my desk! How about an iphone 5 which is nice and small and cheap!

I got the Samsung Galaxy A01 core, well small, which is exactly what i wanted.
Not many bells or whistles on it, but i like it, pretty fast and does the business.
£100 but you can probably get it for a lot less now.

I think the fold & flip phones are becoming more popular the oppo find N2 flip looks ok & you get some Bluetooth earbuds with it.

Right, decision made. If you’re sick of that giant phone in your trouser pocket then this is your only real option for a modern compact phone.

iPhone 13 mini or iPhone 12 mini

A new iPhone 13 mini is about £650
A pre-loved iPhone 12 mini is about £300 (I’ve used ‘Back Market’ before and they were very good).

Let the mini phone revolution begin!

Pixel 7. The form factor change of most modern smartphones makes even the big ones fine for pockets. No need to get a mini one.

I own the P7 pro and don't find it too big, and this is coming from someone who was concerned pre purchase.

I don't personally like iPhones, or Apple and I think their phones are very uncomfortable to use with hard edges. They are however powerful and have good video recording. They lost the photo crown some time ago now though.

It might be the "only real option" for IOS but for Android options are plenty in terms of compact small smartphones.
