Seems about to happen with a pre pack administration clearing debts and starting again. Wealthy Dutchman reportedly interested in them.

Girlfriend and her family are Town fans. Club needs a reset but are too skint to do it. It's a really poor squad. Danny Ward and Jordan Rhodes - good forward options, about ten years ago. Town fan Dean Hoyle has said he'll sell the club for Ā£1 but it's the debt that's the problem. With the right sort of board it's a club with quite a bit of potential. Fairly healthy catchment area and decent facilities. Similar sort of club to us in many ways.

They will get a points deduction but as they're going down in any case, they might as well take the hit this season and start afresh next. I have been told that if they go into adminstration before the end of March the points deduction will apply to this season and not next season???

As a good friend and town fan used to say they are a mirror image of us. Well not now but....
It is a pity is this as I can think of other clubs I would rather see in administartion - not wishing it on anyp particularly. I have some friends still despondent at the demise of Bury FC. All the money swishing round in English football and half a million might well have saved Bury.

Swiss ramble did this thread about them last July and those numbers are horrific for a club that small

If they knew they might go into administration why did they appoint Warnock - indeed why would he have gone there?

Sounds like he's doing Hoyle a favour, I think he's said as much himself. Managed them before, so nostalgia. No real loss from Warnock's perspective and from Town's point of view it galvanised the supporters a bit and they'd already gone through two young managers this season (Fotheringham was a disaster, very weird in press conferences) so it probably had to be something different.

March 24th is the deadline date for Admin points to come off this season, I read somewhere.

Led to believe Warnock agreed to help out until the end of the season - nothing wrong with that

Neil Warnock is also big pals with Leigh Bromby, from their days at Sheffield Utd, who is currently Head of Football Operations at Huddersfield. I think that will also have had a bearing on him taking the job.

Yep, he's the one picking the managers on the whole. A lot of fans point the finger at Bromby and want him gone.

No they aren't. You've been reading too much Daily Mail. ;)

If a club is going to be relegated, they can't go into admin just before the end of the season and make the points deduction pointless (pun intended). That's why there is a deadline in March, so that if they go into admin after that but before the end of the season, they will lose points this season if they had enough to stay up, but the deduction will defer to next season if they would have gone down anyway.

The deadline is not relevant for teams at the top. If they go into admin at any time in the season, their deduction is immediate.

Furthermore, Sheffield United have no reason to go into admin at present because they can hope to pay off their debts from PL money on promotion, and no doubt the cup semi-final gate money and prize money will help too. They might in theory go into admin after the play-off final if they don't get promotion, but virtually certainly not before.

Replacing Coberan was difficult so there's maybe a bit of leeway with the Schofield appointment as he was in-house. Where they really needed to make the correct decision was with Fotheringham and he looked out of his depth immediately with some quite frankly bizarre and angry press conferences. You just cannot imagine players wanting to play for him, and that's before you get onto tactics. Been a season to forget for Huddersfield.

They don't want the points applying this season because they're still just about in the automatic spots, hence why they don't want to announce admin until after Thursday

The FA Cup run money will help them stave off administration.

If they go into administration on Friday or Saturday or the 1st of May, they still get the points deduction. The "deadline" only applies to relegated clubs.

They've made enough money to avoid the 4th Thursday of march deadline.

The FA cup run has given them financial breathing space.

Now if they can avoid administration or complete a sale of the club before the end of the season any points deduction would apply for next season.

The 4th Thursday of march deadline isn't just for relegated clubs, before that date the points deduction is applied immediately.

What you have quoted supports what I said, not what you and the Daily Mail said.

12.3.2 says that after the fourth Thursday in March, rule 12.4 applies.

12.4.1 says that if a club would be relegated without any points deduction, the deduction happens next season instead.

12.4.2 says that if a club would not be relegated without any points deduction, then the deduction happens in the current season.

Pre-pack administrations should be scrapped across the board for all industries.
To easy to write debts off and just continue with same management and staff.
Rinse and repeat as many times as you like

As part of the deal Dean Hoyle will write off the clubs debts of Ā£40,000,000 saving them from administration, for the time being.
