Re: Enock Agyei
There's not much in that article about his progress but I thought the reason that he didn't join us direct is because he wouldn't qualify for a work permit but games in the Jupiler League will help him to become eligible.

Re: Enock Agyei
Follow Mechelen a bit. Was over there just after Defour was made manager. Watched them at Genk earlier this season. They have made it to the Belgian Cup final v Antwerp 30th April. Going over with my lad.
Agyei has been in the match day squad every game since signing on loan. However has only been used a few times. I'm assuming if the loan is for a work permit qualification then being on the bench and not playing counts.
Talking to Mechelen fans his potential when at Anderlecht is very positive. They were very excited to see him. Ball at his feet, one v one he can be unplayable. They've not seen this yet. However he's young and being guided by someone who knows a little bit about attacking football.

Belgium won 3-0 Agyei scored the first goal. Jobe Bellingham missed a pen.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 11:01 amPlays for Belgium u18's who apparently play England u18's today at 11am. Can't find details of the match anywhere though.

Isn't this lad going by a different surname these days?

There was no reference to any work permit at all from when we signed him on deadline day.
He has also changed his name to Boateng now, i think

Our knowledge of the Belgian market is really as massive advantage.
It’s relatively hassle free work permit rules make it a hotbed for talent from all over the place that then become eligible to play in other leagues.

The article was shared on here but it's in dutch. https://m.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20230131 ... rce=googleClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:02 pmNever saw any reference to work permits at all when we signed him
Google translation:
The number of old acquaintances around Vincent Kompany at Burnley continues to grow. The former Anderlecht coach is now also planning to remove top talent Enock Agyei from his former club.

The 18-year-old attacker is out of contract with Anderlecht after this season and has a personal agreement with the leader in the English Championship. He could sign a contract there until 2027 and be loaned to KV Mechelen until the end of the season. The loan to KV Mechelen is necessary to allow the striker to play matches at the highest level, so that he can get a work permit in England next season. Anderlecht still collects about 350,000 euros for its youth product.
His twin brother Ebenezer Agyei then seems to be on his way to Westerlo.
