Have you ever considered that some Burnley posters are housebound and use this board as a connection to the outside world?

Not everyone has your circumstances.

I for example spend much of my days deep in research and when possible always remain logged in, not only to catch up with the latest news but as a break and reset from one academic paper to another….

Lots of reasons why people appear to be on here ‘all day’.

Some people obviously think you need to be at home with an ethernet cable plugged in order to access the internet.

I spend loads of time on here because it's usually superb. One of the most active forums around and for the most part has lots of good opinions. OP is obviously desperate for some attention, maybe he should venture out more

I’m logged in all day because I’ve pressed the “remember me” button. Can’t be arsed logging in every visit.

Let’s be honest. I think the OP is stating that some posters are constantly on this message board from early morning until late at night. Constantly posting comments. The OP knows why that is but is being kind by not saying anything too negative. I agree with him.

Mine stays logged in all the time, I very rarely post anything, in fact just looked 400 posts in 7 years, I just have a scan of the board a couple of times a day to see if there is anything new.

I find it a struggle when people say for example 'nineteenth century' which means 1800s. In fact I find it annoying. Why can't historians speaker proper and simple?

It takes 2 minutes to read a thread, post a comment, and then get back to what you were doing. People aren’t discussing quantum mechanics on here.

Also, why post a whole new thread to mock people for an activity they like, which has no bearing on your life whatsoever? I’m guessing you’re on here to read the various discussion threads. Would you prefer it if people didn’t post anything and the place was a graveyard? Just let people enjoy things.

Because if we used 1800s - we think 1,800 shillings… or 6pm in 24 hour clock… we needed another word, sorry my mistake

we post on here because we like it. there is no mystery. we love the site, because we are clarets.
if you were ever in a position to delve into each and every one of our individual lives you would be shocked, amazed, and the variety in what we do and have done. don't feebly try to deride us for your inability to fathom things out, that's the realm of halfwits and other clubs lesser quality messageboards.

It's not that hard- the 1800's was the 19th century to happen b.c.

The 0000's would be the first century, the 0100's the second and so on.
