There was a mention of Queen in the god save the queen song. The lyrics have just been changed to king now. I'm not sure if that's a tribute to Elvis or the eighties band King.

Carry Pearce wrote Dear Miss Loretta as a letter to Loretta Lynn.

Gretchen Wilson: A little Loretta. Also about Loretta Lynn.

Kris Kristofferson:
Good Morning John. About Johnny Cash, near the end.
If you don't like Hank Williams.

And the one with the most...The Pilgrim
I started writing a song about Chris Gentry and ended up writing about Dennis Hopper, Johnny Cash... Norman, Norbert, Funky Donnie Fritts, Billy Swan, Bobby Neuwirth, Jerry Jeff Walker, Paul Siebel…and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott had a lot to do with it

Paul Anka singing “it’s my life” by Bon Jovi is an interesting one.

Covering a song in which Frank Sinatra is referenced singing a song, written by the artist covering the Bon Jovi song.

I can’t remember another example of that.
