In praise of traditional kits ....

Post by Clarets4me » Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:46 pm

Good to see Scotland in a pared down traditional version of their historic kit, after decades of " designers " messing around with it ....

I would have clicked 'like', but it's Scotland.

Quite what the designer was thinking here back in 1986, I don't know ... the players nicknamed it the " Suspender belt " kit !!

When I saw that kit I couldn't help being impressed a nod to days gone by when football kits where not advertising boards.
A Beautiful kit.

That Scotland kit had me thinking Home Internationals early 1970s - very classy

Would be good if England reverted to their similar iconic kit from the same era

I remember looking at a ‘Soccer Annual’ circa 1978 and a picture of Santos and thinking as an eight year old thinking I’m glad English shirts aren’t full of adverts and slogans…

Whereas with most burnley kits i usually don't initially like them but they grow on me as the season goes on, this seasons was the exact opposite. I'm personally hoping for a cleaner home shirt next season.

Is there are FIFA rule/law that says you can’t have sponsors on international kits?

Not that I’d want them on, but other sports such as rugby and cricket have sponsors on their playing kit

I hate that UEFA & FIFA insist on numbers on the front of shirts. Looks awful.
