Re: Jay Rod
I read in one of the North East papers this week, previewing the Sunderland game Saturday, that he was not fully fit yet.Not sure whether it was speculation or truth

Re: Jay Rod
I would imagine jay might be going at the end of the season not playing enough because of injuries and plus the form of Barnes and foster and Obafemi on the bench.

Re: Jay Rod
Presume Jay has been sorting some kind of US? deal ,with squad doing so well not been missed . Though if fit all through season he may have bagged 20 incredibly enough .

Re: Jay Rod
Was close to going to MLS before Dyche left wasn't he? Wouldn't be surprising if that sort of move happened this summer.

Re: Jay Rod
Surprised at his age and his continuous injury and sickness record that he was offered a two years contract last Summer, particularly when we were trying to refresh the entire squad and reduce the average age
Re: Jay Rod
Hope he plays. He is excellent.

Re: Jay Rod
Potential link up with Westy? part of me wouldn't mind him rocking up at Accy, but only if he's going to be fit for them

Re: Jay Rod
Heard some rumours a few weeks back that he was joining up with Barnsley in the summer.
Re: Jay Rod
Think the likes of Jay Rod, Barnes and Cork are being slowly phased out.

Re: Jay Rod
As with when we re-signed Jay in 2019, I assumed that retaining Jay-Rod was yet another 'he's one of our own' decisions? To be fair, this season's probably seen Jay's best strike rate for goals since he came back from WBAwarksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:45 amSurprised at his age and his continuous injury and sickness record that he was offered a two years contract last Summer, particularly when we were trying to refresh the entire squad and reduce the average age

Re: Jay Rod
They'll have to be; while all three of them have contributed this season, they were all past their sell by dates for EPL football last season; the fact that they've all been so influential during this season's campaign is what most feeds my concern about next season.
Re: Jay Rod
Would agree - age creeping up on them all and not good enough for a season in Premier League, and include JBG (may be getting into Championship side but next year will be a way higher level)
We've seen it said it many times on this forum - Striker and CM are crucial for additional recruitment this summer - two for each position

Re: Jay Rod
Disagree on JBG I think he has skill and speed of thought enough to more than hold down the 1st sub position for the number 10 role or a wing space.

Re: Jay Rod
If we are to succeed in the PL next season EVERY player wearing our shirt is going to have to be on the top of their game, every time they start. Our ageing players will have a huge disadvantage in the PL. Whilst we do not play a "Man City" every week, watching some of our players in that game last week, was a reality check. Still work for VK and the recruitment team to do, but after seeing what they have achieved in recruitment in the last 8 or so months, I am confident we will pull off some stellar signings this close season providing skill, athleticism and pace

Re: Jay Rod
It would be a boost if Jay gets back to match fitness this season because he's been instrumental in a lot of the good things that we've experienced.
Nobody can argue he's vital to the team's success in the future
