Charles Bronson

Post by KRBFC » Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:44 pm

Lost his appeal to be released from prison, he's now 70 years old and has spent the last 48 years behind bars despite never committing murder, terror attacks or rape.

Also just been announced, George Bamby is not his son, it was a plan for media attention to get Bronson released.

Thoughts on this? Should he be released? almost 50 years behind bars is a long time and he might struggle to acclimatise to the outside world, it's absolutely insane he's been kept there for so long when you look at the small time nonces get.

I notice that whenever anyone speaks in favour of him getting out, they always reference things he hasn't done rather than the things he has.

The question is does the things he's done warrant a 50-80 years (until he dies) death sentence?

And I'm not in favour of him getting out, I see both sides, I think they've left him in there for so long, they're now scared to release him and I can understand why.

Is he safe to be released? Probably not, it’s sad but that’s the reality

Ridiculous decision, the criminals walking freely today have done far far worse than Bronson. He's 70 years of age now and has done his time.

He was the only one of the Dirty Dozen prisoners to walk away from the Chateau

It’s a shame he wasn’t released and had his place taken by Prince Andrew.

Down to the justice ministry.
But he's not the only criminally insane prisoner who will never be let out, just the loudest.

Hopefully the people who decided his future had all the correct advice about his mental state and any threat he still poses. Mistakes happen they let Gary Glitter out.

No "they" didn't, he was released automatically on licence as per the nature of the sentence he received, and then recalled due to non compliance with his release conditions.

Let me know when Andrew is found guilty of breaking a law that merits prison.

Bronson is a very violent individual who's shown on numerous occasions that he's a danger to others, usually with minimal provocation.

If he was freed, I have no doubt he'd soon end up back in prison for a violent altercation.

He's also institutionalised now, he'd struggle to adapt to the modern world.

That's because he hasn't as yet
I know the Americans claim he has, but that's because their age of consent is different to ours and they struggle to grasp that.

He's a creepy old man, I'm not denying that btw.

Needs to change his name again, for starters. Timmy Smith or something as meek. Get his hair cut nicely. Take some elocution lessons and maybe he might get to an open prison.

Is he not worthy of being given an opportunity to prove he's a changed man though after 50 long years behind bars? I thought jail was supposed to be rehabilitation, many people go to jail and turn to religion and studying. Of course, some get out and reoffend too.

I agree with the final part. I also don't think the whole mystery, character and fame around him has helped his cause. I'm sure much of it is glorified reputation but that sticks.

People deserve a chance if they serve their time with no issues, he has repeatedly assaulted people, sometimes on a whim.

Something I forgot to add, if he was released, he'd be a target for some belm who'd be seeking the notoriety of beating him up on the outside of prison etc.

He's been released twice during that fifty years. Both times he was back inside within 3 months, once for armed robbery, once for intent to rob.

And there's no real point in letting him out to see if he can stop himself from committing crime. He's had three more serious offences while inside, twice taking hostages, once beating up a warder. The last only 8 years ago.

IMO he has run out of second chances.
