Arrival time advice for Friday's game

We encourage supporters to arrive earlier than usual in order to attend the match on time. Supporters arriving less than 20 minutes before kick-off are not guaranteed to be in their seats before kick-off, particularly due to additional spot checks taking place.

Please use the graphic below as a visual representation of how your arrival time affects viewing kick-off.

That may well be but seeing the queues just before ko for most games, it seems that it's not been seen by many fans.

The use of QR codes on phones has been an issue especially on cup games BUT to suggest that the extra checks are to blame for fans not accessing the ground is bollards.

A new turnstiles system was introduced and it is less adequate than the last one, add to this the fact that many of the turnstile operators (that I have seen) are in no rush to get fans through and often want to take the card off supporters to scan it which wastes valuable time, a few seconds per supporter really adds up at busy periods.

My suggestion would be that the club looks inhouse at the issues causing the queues and have supervisors on each block of turnstiles when issues occur (maybe they'd have a mobile scanner for this problem). Often we see fans arguing with the turnstiles staff because their card or phone QR code won't work, affecting all the supporters waiting behind them.

Anyone turning up 90 minutes before kick off to sit in a non hospitality seat should be banned

It's crazy to think handing a ticket in and having them tear a strip off before handing back was quicker than todays nonsense but it is.
I have 3 QR codes on my phone and every time I go the phone locks up from the timer by the time they complete the transaction. Takes over a minute to enter all 3 of us.

Away fans must think we are a joke, eg you can turn up at Sunderland 5 mins before kick off and be in your seat for in time and that is with 37000 plus fans!
Also no road blocks, police helicopters and the like, Lancashire Constabulary take note.

Ah I see, must be just the away end, I sneaked in to the home stands when we went there and my mackem supporting season ticket friend tells me there are never any problems getting in late.

Away end at Sunderland was chaos

Missed the first five minutes

Not arriving at the ground any earlier than normal tonight, but as its Friday and its the M6/M65, certainly setting off a lot earlier than we would for any other kick off day

My mates were at the turnstiles at Sunderland some 25 minutes before kick off and got in ten minutes after kick off.

But as I posted earlier in the thread - this timing info has been in place on the club's website all season

Seemed a lot better last night. Walked round at about 7.40 and not many in queues anyway!

Never mind getting there, the roadworks at the end of Eastern Avenue slowed me down so much, plus the new drive in Macdonalds in Nelson, thank you also to the **** in the white Corsa I missed getting my late night bottle of wine in Harrogate on the way home.

Managed to dodge the roadworks on my return journey having been in the queue on the way down, had my late McDonalds at Newton Aycliffe on my way back to the North East.
PS I don’t drive a white Corsa :D
