Re: Kompany to Spurs
Vinny is going nowhere for the foreseeable future. He signed on for the long haul at Burnley and he will see the bulk of his contract out. He is a very decent guy with high personal standards, and will serve his ‘apprenticeship’ for City with us. The Spurs connection is fantasy and lazy journalism, which will not deflect him from his ultimate goal of getting us as far above the ‘21st best team‘ as he can. Also, his passion is football, not money, and at 36 he has 25+ years left. The big bucks will come when he’s creating his dynasty at City.

If he did leave, after 9 months leaving us managerless facing into The Prem, half the players on loan……..
Those disappointed about a lack of tickets for Rovers won’t have a problem next season!

No way he takes that job unless they appoint him manager AND director of football. He’ll want to choose his own signings not manage someone else’s

You mean the transfer embargo he said he was not worried about ?
Are you worried about a transfer embargo when we are in a period when the market is closed ?

Re: Kompany to Spurs
he lierally just said in an interview with Alistair Campbell that he has a 5 year deal and added:
""There was a whole plan for, within two or three years, to make sure we put ourselves in a position where we could give ourselves a chance to get promoted. Things went a little bit quicker than that. The idea was to achieve what we are doing now, but just not in this timescale."
article here:

I doubt Levy would want to pay the compensation for him and his staff anyway

Re: Kompany to Spurs
With the rumours around Ancelloti heading to Brazil in the summer my guess is the big hitters e.g. Poch, Nagelsman are waiting on Real before accepting the booby prize at Spurs. Now if Real come in for VK I think we are screwed!
Re: Kompany to Spurs
When you see the ky interview, you realise just how lucky we are to have him as a manager. He is a very talented but humble person. One day he will move on to a bigger club but I genuinely believe his morals and principles will keep him here for at least another two seasons, if not longer.

I think we'll get another two seasons out of him. The way he'll see it is that he has only done half a job.Firthy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 3:22 pmWhen you see the ky interview, you realise just how lucky we are to have him as a manager. Re: Kompany to Spurs
1 heavily backed promotion I don’t think will generate sufficient enough interest in him for a top job for all SD credits he only ended up with Everton & you possibly argue he did equally as good a job if not better, it’s difficult to compare the 2 because the duration of tenure is mismatched, sink or swim next season if we swim VK will start to become hot property.Firthy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 3:22 pmWhen you see the ky interview, you realise just how lucky we are to have him as a manager. ORCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 9:32 amKompany wouldn’t go to Spurs. It’s daft thinking to suggest he would.
- he doesn’t need the cash
- he has no PL managerial experience
- he has a loyalty to Burnley and to his young players who took a chance on him and won’t be good enough to follow him
- the risk of ending up like Nuno is high
- the Sours players are decadent and seem in their comfort zone, he cannot change 20 players like he did here
- it could hamper him getting the City job not help it, either through underperformance or through over performance (if he is top he won’t jump ship)
- his wife and kids are in Manchester
As Vincent Kompany, managing Burnley, moving to Tottenham Hotspur would present an incredible opportunity for him to take his managerial career to the next level. Tottenham Hotspur is a prestigious club with a rich history and a passionate fan base. The club has a strong squad with talented players and a well-established youth academy, which provides excellent opportunities for him to develop and nurture young talent.
Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur is a club with high ambitions, and as a manager, I would have the chance to compete for major honors such as the Premier League title, domestic cups, and European competitions. The club also boasts world-class facilities and an excellent infrastructure, which would enable him to develop a winning culture and implement his footballing philosophy.
Furthermore, the opportunity to work with a club of Tottenham's stature and be part of its rich tradition would be a tremendous honor for him. The chance to work with top-class players such as Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and others would be an enticing prospect and a challenge that he would surely relish.
Overall, moving to Tottenham Hotspur would be a dream opportunity for him as a manager, and I am sure he would be eager to take up the challenge and lead the club to success on the domestic and international stages.

Not sure about the high ambitions bit, Conte didn’t seem to agree.

Re: Kompany to Spurs
This is my biggest fear: We've got a side that can boss the Championship, but possibly can't yet compete in the EPL; a lot of our current players are likely to be better still in another year or two, but can they cope with the EPL now and/or can the financial side of this five year plan accommodate the immediate purchase of better/more experienced players to keep us there until they do reach their full potential?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 2:24 pm...a whole plan for, within two or three years, to make sure we put ourselves in a position where we could give ourselves a chance to get promoted. I'm old enough to have been at Wembley in 1994; it was a fantastic day out, but even on the drive home we were discussing that promotion had arrived 'too early', we weren't good enough, we couldn't afford to strengthen the side and our trying to do so and failing, was what saw us almost back in D4 just three or four years later.

Re: Kompany to Spurs
Always the likelihood of Kompany being linked to bigger clubs given the amazing job he's doing at Burnley.
Sadly we'll have to get used to his name being touted around, however I doubt he'll go to Spurs this summer, although in the modern game you can never be absolutely certain about anything.
Vinny is saying all the right things and he's stated he's here for the long haul, and I guess we have to take him at his word he doesn't strike me as insincere.
Reasons he'd go to Spurs.
Guaranteed PL footy.
European footy quite possibly Champions League.
Increase in salary.
Chance to raise his profile.
Coaching better players.
Reasons for him staying with Burnley
He's still young and developing as a manager.
Spurs is a poisoned chalice for managers.
Kane might well depart for Man Utd in the summer.
He's building a talented squad at Burnley.
He won't want to be seen to jump ship too early.

It's April and he's not got us promoted yet so I for one wouldn't be sorry to see him go. Hopefully we haven't burned the bridge with Dyche and we can still get him back. He's doing well with everton.

He's got as much chance at Burnley of lifting the PL title next season rather than joining Spurs. You must have copy and pasted that nonsense. Managerial graveyard, managing other people's overrated players, zero ambition from the top.

You're replying to a bot, or at the very least someone experimenting with AI generated responses. There's an actual perspective shift from third-person to first-person in the second paragraph, which then switches back to third-person. The "I" part of the word AI is doing a lot of heavy lifting.KRBFC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 1:25 amStrong squad? high ambitions? compete for major honours?

Since Levy took over, all the managers he has employed have between them, before and after managing Spurs won a combined 63 trophies between them. While at Spurs they won a grand total of 1 (and that was Juande Ramos )claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:37 amYou can tell the post from UGR is made up ******** when it states Spurs are a club with any ambition let alone high ambition
