Colne FC next Sat

As some will know our ex player Paul Weller has become interim manager. Since then they have got 6 points from 9.

Massive game Sat against the team above them.

For fans with a season ticket of an EFL team it’s a fiver to get in, let’s give an ex player a boost and get some support on there.

Three of us will be there. Get yourself there.

Pretty sure Mr Weller lives on our street, or so the eldest tells me.

I remember bumping into him in Mean Cats quite often during his playing days.

Colne are a bit removed from Burnley, no affinity towards them whatsoever and that North Valley Road wtf!

It’s a bit strange in footballing terms.

Lots of Burnley fans but also lots of Liverpool, Man United and Leeds fans too.

To be fair there has been a big push to support lower league football when we don’t have a game. So surprised our supporters are negative about supporting a local team one of our ex players is trying to help.

Is this aimed at me?

Is ColneFC from the ashes of Colne Dynamoes, or a separate team? Are the latter still a thing?

New club entirely. I think there were a good few years between Dynamoes finishing and this club starting.

Not aimed at anyone, just think some footy fans who have nothing to do Sat could go.

Colne Dynamoes disappeared entirely. Colne FC were formed several years later and play at the same ground. (Parts of which are still standing!)

To Think Burnley had fell so far.... Chalky Whites Rising colne dynamos Where looking to ground share Turf Moor... the possible outcome didn't bear bear thinking about. I'd rather watch Accy tbh.

They certainly were incredible times………wasn’t he in one way or another effectively wanting to replace Burnley with CD and move things to a new ground off the M65?

Thank the Lord we scraped our way back up the leagues…….

From what I understand they would not let CD in the league as the pitch slopes, so he tried to do a ground share, by some land to build a new pitch/stadium. He was blocked by everyone, so he shut up shop and moved away.

Colne have started a go fund me to sort the pitch out. Need about £40k I think.

I think the real reason they wouldn't let Colne in was because Colne had beaten Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Trophy, after Kidderminster had made all sorts of complaints about having to play on Colne's pitch (which slopes further than Yeovil's famous old slope) and been knocked back. The Conference, whose chairman coincidentally also happened to be chairman of Kidderminster, introduced various new rules designed to keep colne out. The most egregious being a rule that clubs could not be in the Conference if they shared a ground with any other club, unless they had sold their existing ground for development. The purpose being to allow Northwich Victoria to sell teir ground for many millions while ensuring that clubs that didn't have many millions' worth of football ground (especially if it sloped1) couldn't be allowed in.

Of course, it made no difference in the end because Chalky White suffered some sort of cash flow problem and the club went belly up.

Just thought I’d post my exclusive interview with Weller here - not just on Colne but his thoughts on Kompany, the current group of Burnley loanees and his relationship with Stan Ternent!
