I know we’re off on a tangent somewhat, but just a point on phone service. I cannot get any mobile data in Burnley Town Centre, never mind the Turf. It’s very odd - I tend to park Parker Lane area and on the walk from there, past the bus station, under the culvert, near the ground, didn’t get anything. I’m on the 3 network if anybody has similar issues.
I'm on o2 and can never get any mobile data on the Turf unless I switch to 3g, which is limited but sometimes works. Weirdly, I was in hospitality on Friday night and had perfect coverage! 🧐

Re the pies, I often have to miss lunch or tea to get to the game so I grab a pie more often than is healthy. They're usually fine but there's plenty of times I've asked them to get me a non-burnt one.

I've zero interest in having a roast wrapped in a Yorkshire pudding etc at the football so whilst I'm fine with them improving the offering, they better still keep the proper footy grub too.

Can they outsource the ticket office next season too? Would really help to have people who know their arses from their elbows.

I think there was a fan survey a while ago that asked 'would you be happy to pay slightly more to receive a better quality of product' or something along the lines of that. I'd like to think the majority would answer 'yes' but I'm aware not everyone is in a position to pay more than they already do for their match day experience.

I'm with you. I'd rather pay more to have improved quality and choice, like at Hull by all accounts. Though I do think the club could do more for the price points they currently offer.
Hull was genuinely the best I’ve ever had in this country. Including some hospitality! And despite paying more than I’ve done before I felt was good value. And got served quickly.

The other thing to consider. While didn’t think it was bad value per se for me. I was only buying for one. If I was buying for a family would’ve cost me north of £60. That’s why the pies are fair value right now too. Completely changing it would probably price out a lot of fans.

Hull was brilliant.

No reason you can’t have gyros, noodle-dishes, burritos, etc alongside good quality pies (like Haffners).

You can even keep the processed rollovers if you like, plug please give us some decent food alongside them!

Personally I don't have an issue with the temperature of the pie as long as it's warm. It's the quality that was dire. Rock hard crust and sludge-like filling. They're diabolical.

You are right, it’s not just 90 minutes at the footy.

It’s rare I buy anything but a few years ago I was in a rush and bought a pie. Never again, I burned my mouth and the base of the pie was black. I was offered a voucher for another pie which I declined. I wasn’t going to risk it again.

I did. actually buy a pie at Hull recently and it was as good a pie as I’ve ever had.

Some clubs have considerably improved their concourse catering over the years but ours has gone backwards. Fifty years ago you could get fish & chips on the Turf. What is it today? A pie, a rollover hotdog or an overpriced Twix?
Them poor old Twix don't half get some stick ;)

Certainly hope Gibbo is a major part of this reorganization.

The hours that lad puts in is unbelievable and he is an absolute credit to our club - nothing is too much for him and always has a smile on his face.

Again, an absolute credit to us is Chris !

Worst pie I’ve ever had is at Sheff Utd this season, chicken balti, burnt to crisp, totally inedible, couldn’t be arsed to return it and complain because of the queues.

Always have a pie at the game, sometimes I’ve been known to have 2 (rare night games when I’ve had to leg it from work) but they are pretty rough.

As someone said above- some amazing examples on Twitter of what’s available at other grounds- great if we have some improvement for next season.

There is a small fortune to be made by getting this right.

It takes a certain skill “heat” a potato & meat pie that either has a rock hard crust with lukewarm filling or a soggy crust with a lava filled filling, but I’ve experienced both on more than one occasion.

I find the peppered steak a little more consistent, but a wider variety of choice on offer would be good

Do we get the pies from "Two ton Ted from Teddington who drives the bakers van"

His pies had "concrete hardened crusts"

OverviewLyrics Ernie
You could hear the hoof beats pound
As they raced across the ground
And the clatter of the wheels
As they spun round and round
And he galloped into Market Street
His badge upon his chest
His name was Ernie
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west
Now Ernie loved a widow
A lady known as Sue
She lived all alone in Linley Lane
At number twenty two
They said she was too good for him
She was haughty, proud and chic
But Ernie got his cocoa there
Three times every week
They called him Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west
She said she'd like to bathe in milk
He said alright sweetheart
And when he finished work one night
He loaded up the cart
He said you wanted pasturised
'Cause pasturised is best
She says Ernie I'll be happy
If it comes up to me chest
And that tickled old Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west
Now Ernie had a rival
An evil looking man
Called Two Ton Ted from Teddington
And he drove the bakers van
He tempted her with his treacle tarts
And his tasty wholemeal bread
And when she saw the size
Of his hot meat pies
It very near turned her head
She nearly swooned at his macaroon
And he said now if you treat me right
You'll have hot rolls evry morning
And crumpets every night
He knew once she'd sampled his layer cake
He'd have his wicked way
And all Ernie had to offer
Was a pint of milk a day
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west
One lunchtime Ted saw Ernie's horse and cart outside her door
It drove him mad to find it was still there at half past four
And as he leaped down from of his van
Hot blood through his veins did course
And he went across to Ernie's cart
And he didnarf kick his horse
Who's name was Trigger (Trigger)
And he pulled the fastest milkcart in the west
Now Ernie rushed out into the street
His goldtop in his hand
He said if you want to marry susie
You'll fight for her like a man
Oh why don't we play cards for her
He sneeringly replied
And just to make it interesting
We'll have a shilling on the side
Now Ernie dragged him from his van
And beneath the blazing sun
They stood there face to face
And Ted went for his bun
But Ernie was to quick
Things didn't go the way ted planned
And a strawberry flavoured youghurt
Sent it spinning from his hand
Now Sue she ran between them
And tried to keep them apart
And Ernie pushed her aside
And a rock cake caught him underneath his heart
And he looked up in pained surprise
As the concrete hardened crust
Of a stale pork pie caught him in the eye
And Ernie bit the dust
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west
Ernie was only fifty-two, he didn't want to die
Now he's gone to make deliveries
In that milkround in the sky
Where the customers are angels
And ferocious dogs are banned
And a milkmans life is full of fun
In that fairy dairy land
But a woman's needs are many fold
And Sue she married Ted
But strange things happened on their wedding night
As they lay in their bed
Was that the trees a rustling
Or the hinges of the gate
Or Ernies ghostly goldtop a rattling in their crate
They won't forget Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west

Another one the sports journalists got wrong,Levy was actually after our catering, not Kompany.
Let’s all hope that remains the case as I see the odds against VK joining Spurs have contracted sharply in the last couple of days. William Hill now only offering 11/2.

Let’s hope it’s all pie in the sky.

I read somewhere that the banqueting and catering side of Tottenham was one of the most profitable in the PL.

Another vote for Hull here as the best. Couldn't believe how good their catering is, not overpriced either. Shame we're not going there next season. Surely it can't be that hard to replicate.

Let's hope they change some of the staff.

I've seen some dreadful behaviour from some the last few seasons. From rudeness to downright aggressive in some instances.

Aside from that it's the lack of work ethic that they can't speed up when there's a queue a mile long. I'd have not lasted 5mins when I used to work on busy bars acting like that.

I've seen behaviour that would resort in an instant sacking if I ran the place.

Its mainly the older ones who work on the bar who are the worst rather than the youngsters on the food.

Let's hope they have a clean sweep

Some Info:

The collaboration will see the middle tier of Turf Moor’s Jimmy McIlroy stand, redeveloped into a revolutionary new matchday experience. Boasting a Super Box, which is an open-plan premium dining space, a pitch facing sports bar with street food stations, complete with table football and a state-of-the art Gaming Lounge.

In addition to the Jimmy McIlroy Stand renovation, technology will be introduced throughout the concourses to improve the customer experience. Self-order units will replace traditional bar service with supporters able to order from the terminals and collect from a dedicated collection point. This new technology allows fans to order and pay for their half-time refreshments upon entry, meaning a quicker service.

My read of the press release is that the JM redevelopment is hospitality only, rather than open plan hospitality plus a sports bar that season ticket holders can use. Is that a correct take?

All in all though I feel it is great news, and is a first step to the kind of fantastic catering and drink we see at Spurs and especially in US sports stadia.

I've read that the same as you for the Jimmy Mac, that it is all hospitality. I do know the club have spent a significant seven figure sum in there this summer.

You would hope that there will be the much needed improvement in the concourse offering which was as poor as anywhere to be honest.

Hope the bar is open to ST holders, that sounds great. Street food stations surely implies that it will be open beyond hospitality? Same for the gaming area etc, they’re not going to get many corporates wanting to sit and play PS5 and Xbox.

Sounds a great project and we’ll overdue. On a large quantity of my away trips last season I often found myself remarking on how good the offerings were elsewhere. Reading was particularly good I thought with so much food and drink choice wrapping around the stadium.

Hope the bar is open to ST holders, that sounds great. Street food stations surely implies that it will be open beyond hospitality? Same for the gaming area etc, they’re not going to get many corporates wanting to sit and play PS5 and Xbox.

Looks like an entry level corporate, so not for ST holders to just walk in. TBH if i was local id be tempted at the price, and im a single bloke with no kids. So i think its aiming for the market which wouldnt necessarily want to be dressed up for the football but want something above normal. Maybe a few player's pals, youtuber types etc will go in there for sure.

Could also see it doing well as a party venue for well heeled teens / early 20s on non matchday too

I don't think it will, but it'd be interesting if the fanzone was to be revamped as part of all this.

About time tbf. Trying to get anything at half time is nigh on impossible.

As an example, Levy (the new caterers) currently provide concourse catering for a number of clubs including Watford. This is their current concourse offering.

I like the sound of a hot sub, assuming it’s stuff like pork with apple sauce and stuffing etc.

Looks a good mix of stuff - the classics like pies, but some more ‘elevated’ stuff if you’re fancying a larger lunch and haven’t eaten. I’d hope for prices to be slightly lower than that due to geographical difference, but I might be expecting too much.

Which has a knock on effect in our stand because the food/drink queues block other entrances which makes it difficult to get to the loo.

These improvements are long overdue. Well done to the club for putting in the investment. With Levy already having a lot of experience in this field, I'm looking forward to seeing the changes.

I hope those are the 'dahn sarf' prices, £7.50 for a cheeseburger.😯

A far better menu offering, still not ideal but far better.

If we are to be based on Watford as a similar size club water is far too expensive (my pet hate) and there is a lack of a light salad option (even McD’s do chicken salad nowadays). I would like fish and chips and more “street food” style but hopefully those can extend to the fanzone area too and even though it doesn’t feel perfect (e.g. nowhere near as good as Spurs) it is a big step forward.

£5.50 for a cheeseburger without additional toppings, which considering the captive environment and comparable to other venue F+B pricing, is probably about average these days.
